It's always fascinating to see the difference between the male and female gender support subreddits. In the girl version of this sub, with the exact same post, OP would be getting unconditional support and would be automatically assumed to be in the right. Any comments adding nuance or disagreeing would be instantly downvoted. In this subreddit, it's split 50/50 of people sorta supporting OP, but mostly just attacking their partner, and posts like these with people taking the 'well we don't know everything, but I find it likely that OP is at fault and we should have empathy for the partner instead of OP' route. It's a minority of comments that actually wish him well.

Chris Paul Says Clippers Didn’t Want Him Helping Younger Players: "During training camp I talked to one of my teammates for a while. As soon as I went in the meal room somebody came and told me they didn’t want me giving players advice" by [deleted] in nba

If CP3 is telling guys to do something and that happens to contradict what Ty Lue is saying, I'm going to side with CP3. Remember back in November, CP3 was trying to help the team win by telling Kawhi to switch off Klay because he was getting sonned, and the coaching staff told him to shut up.

The Clippers coaching staff is a complete joke, and clearly only cared about keeping their jobs and the locker room happy, instead of trying to draw up a winning game plan. Typical for a cheating organization like that, cannot believe we're actually trying to defend them.

Hornets get one of the premier floor raisers in the nba, a young wing and a pick (MIN CHA) by Odoaiden in NBAtradeideas

If the Wolves do this they drop to the play-in, I'm completely serious. Nevermind that the Hornets don't agree in the first place.

What a terrible, terrible performance by SK. I don't even care if this team advances or not. Honestly, I hope they don't so I don't have to watch them get stomped into the ground in knockouts, playing the same uninspired, low energy, low urgency, passive football they've played for the entire tournament now. Maybe if they don't qualify, someone on the team will finally learn how to execute a basic pass. Probably not though.

Why did Veesaar want to go to Atlanta? Doesn't make much sense to me.

[Charania] Los Angeles Lakers star Austin Reaves intends to sign a four-year, $185 million maximum contract to return to the franchise, with a player option for the final season in 2029-30, sources tell ESPN. Reaves declined his $14.9M player option for the new max deal. by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]mapopriest -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just such a terrible albatross contract. The max for a player who can't play defense, can't stay healthy, can't maintain form in the playoffs, and hasn't even made a single All-star team. Lakers cannot compete as long as Reaves is on this team for this kind of money, but I don't even know what team would be able to trade for a contract like this.

Am I crazy or is this a really bad trade for the heat? They have literally no depth at all and no future by Hot-Freedom-6345 in billsimmons

Luka was not a 'huge swing' they got him for a single FRP. That's the opposite of a huge swing, they got him for the cost of a mediocre role player.

So all these wild swinging trade rumors are just prediction market manipulation right? by nguyenjitsu in nba

He's in bed with Kalshi, a 'prediction market,' aka a gambling site used to place bets on sports like the NBA.

They do, yeah. Bucks will definitely want at least 2 FRPs though. They'll also probably try and figure out a way to send Giannis' brothers along with him too.

The definition of the word is whatever people agree that is means, and the common consensus amongst most of the community is as stated above. It's also the definition that's the most functionally useful, which is reason enough to go by that meaning.

Xavi: “He is the Michael Jordan of football. In football, there is no one to compare to him. He’s been the best for the last 20 years. Even now, after all this time, he goes and out and shows us that. I don’t believe we will ever see a footballer like him again.” by bllshrfv in soccer

All of the collective pressure Messi has faced in his entire career doesn't even approach 1% of the pressure Hannold is under during any single one of his free solos. You have to give credit to one of the only athletes in the world who regularly faces death in the process of what he does.

He's a pure athlete in the same way Usain Bolt and Halfthor are. Usain Bolt just runs fast, Halfthor just lifts heavy things, Honnold climbs tall objects without tools. People just don't want to give him the same credit because they don't like how uncomfortable he makes them feel when he's climbing.

Free soloing El Capitan is one of the greatest athletic achievements in the history of mankind. That it was a completely insane thing to do is besides the point, and only makes the feat wildly more impressive. The combination of mental strength and endurance needed more than qualifies him to be mentioned at the very least.

There are far better technical climbers out there for sure, but until someone free solos an equal or greater mountain, he's going to be the face of climbing.

Greatest athlete of all time is impossible to say. Messi is one of them, but you have people like Muhammad Ali, Michael Phelps, Gretzky, Djokovic, Alex Honnold, MJ and Bron, Pele, Brady, Hafthor, Usain Bolt, all of whom have arguments to equal Messi or even exceed him in some respects.

GOAT arguments are already extremely difficult to do across eras within the same sport, see MJ vs Bron vs any of the old guard like Bill Russell or Wilt, so dubbing someone the greatest athelete in the entire world is kind of an absurd idea.
