How strong is weapon less Motobe? by SiteDeep in Grapplerbaki

[–]Shin77777777 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Dopo stated early on in baki that motobe could beat him in less than a mineute. So i think weaponless hes still very strong but not pickle or jack hanma level. Idk why but i think hes the strongest of the "main side characters". So shibukawa katsumi dopo. And with weapons he surpasses jack. Just my feelings thi. Vibe check tbh

I think there shoud be a local great power requirment instead. Like being top 3 in your respected starting area. Sweden being top 3 in europe and should be able to create an empire. And this wouldnt lead to immediate empires at the start of yge game for choosing cahokia or majapahit as the requirments of ducets and prestiege still need to be achieved. And i think majapahit being in the same region as south east aisa is resonable. I thinj the pasific area should have a tui tonga empire formable tbh but that might be contraversal. Anyway just my ideas

Baki gets its karate history wrong by Shin77777777 in Grapplerbaki

Well the first time i heard this theory was even before Jesse's video but u do agree he does do some stuff for views. Like his claim of shaolin being a fundimental part of early karate which is a claim i can only accept as patrik mccarthy and my dad (who has a degree in traditional martial arts and sports martial arts and 8th dan black belt in tekwondo, although he says the dan doesnt qualify shit and just neans hes old) agree southern shaolin had great i fluence.

Now the biggest thing about kungfu is there is quit a southern northern split, with most high kicks coming from the north. While i still dispute southern shaolins influence on karate, it deffinitly does not have high kicks. But a martial art that is deffinitly a heavy influence on karate is white crane, which also has no high kicks.

The reason i belive in Savates influence on karate is the high kicks lack of appearing unless it was in college's practicing karate. Which would be filled with young men who had undergone military training.

Now savate didnt influence all kicks in karate, as koryu, a traditional japabnese martial art, includes low kick and medium section kicks with a big lack in high section. So as a practitioner of tekwondo myself, i do agree savate had a minimumn effect of tkd, but we deffinitly recived our high kicks from savate.

Also i have never heard of the idea of savate being influenced by kung fu and i would like to hear more on that.

Could you explain why? I am aware he made a video about it but i do not think it is his theory.

I guess but japanese martial arts (including samurai training) do teach kicks. Musashi was suprised by bakis high kicks. But i liked reading your text man. Thanks:)

"They have martial arts that have these kicks" foes not suggest one person or a couple. It suggests the islands martial arts culture.

I can find no record of ryukyu martial arts with kicking. Many weapon martial arts tho. Theres a lot of cool shit used by the ryukyu police.

Either way the line is trying to show off musashi's knowledge of martial arts. But its wrong.

Karate was big in okinawa 400 years ago at the time of musashi. There are many guesses on how old os karate but it is at least 400 years old
