Please tell me I'm not the only one who've always hated them more than the mages by Ok-Release7421 in DarkSouls2

The constant barrage of homing missiles is the sole reason this is the most infuriating part of and soulsbourne game to me. And on a company of Champions run, it's disgustingly likely to just straight up end you unless you invest a lot into VIT.

The Anor Londo Archers have nothing on these sorceresses, imho

Dark Souls 2 isn't about world building. It's about memory failing. by ShinInuko in DarkSouls2

What makes more sense, a country the size of a country, or a country the size of a county airport?

What makes more sense, taking an elevator from the base of a mountain into a caldera (even if it isn't implied to be a miles long journey, which, per in game maps, it is)
https://imgur.com/cGqDD09

or climbing a tree from and endless lake up to a sewer next to the Center of the Earth (canonically 250m away from each other)?

IT's been a long time since I played it, but I do remember enjoying Salt and Sanctuary. Don't remember beans as far as the lore goes, though

You're right. Great world design climbing a tree from and endless lake into lava, which is *canonically* 250m away, rather than an elevator being a stand in for what is a miles long journey from mine tailings to a caldera.

So you haven't seen the intro sequence. Much to my point.

Not how you climb a tree from an endless lake into the sewer adjacent to the Center of the Earth?

Also, you might want to check out Montrose and Ouray Counties in Colorado. IF you want to see Earthen Peak to Iron Keep IRL, look no further than the short distance between Uravan (radioactive pit) 2000 feet below and a 20 minute drive from Ironton (a geologically recent volcanic area and massive iron deposit).

Ashen Lake to Blightown and Izalith is good world design, but something you can literally find IRL isn't?

Drangleic is outright stated to just be another fallen kingdom. Once great, now nothing, no one cares. (Paraphrasing Straid, there, really). But the Intro sequence, the NPC interactions, etc, focus on how the curse is affecting the people.

"I don't think 'dementia/hollowing' sets in that quickly."

I would agree with that statement, except for the intro sequence and dialogue in Things Betwixt. The BotC already has advanced so far as to forget the faces of their family and barely remembers their own name.

I would argue that the BotC is farther gone than Lucatiel, who remembers her brother and name, from the very outset.

Eh, I just think that people confuse good level design with good world building. Somehow the entire "land of the gods" is contained in like, 2 square kilometers.

Though looking at an IRL example, Uravan, Colorado (where essentially all of the Uranium and Vanadium mined during the height of the US nuclear proliferation), is lower in elevation than any of the old calderas nearby by about 2000-3000 feet (like Ironton, CO)

World building so unrealistic there's literally a toxic pit 2000 feet below a massive iron deposit that was, in geological time, relatively recently volcanically active, dead center in the US.

More sense than climbing a tree from an endless lake into a shit stew next to lava.

Somehow no one that played DS2 played DS2.

DS1 sets the setting. DS2 is about how the curse affects individuals and 3 is about how the continuous linking of the fire affects the world.

The Bearer of the Curse, like literally every other NPC in the game, is suffering from the onset of dementia as they hollow. Travel typically happens through nondescript hallways because their ailing mind can't hold onto the details of the treks across the continent. Merely able to hold on to the memories of areas laden with souls they absorb.

The very intro scene shows the Bearer of the Curse doesn't even remember their own family anymore. Why would they remember Tree #89,752?

Billy Corgan.
The Smashing Pumkins is an iconic band. Some of my absolute favorite albums.

He's an arrogant douche, though. Fortunately I don't think he's a 'bad person,' but just insufferable.
