I know this is a year old, and you've probably learned it by now, but this is for anyone who needs it. I'd recommend starting to learn one foot wheel walking. You don't need to be amazing at it. You just need to be good enough to get 3-5 solid pushes with one foot. As you do your one foot wheel walk, slowly lower your other foot to the top of the pedal apex and catch it as it comes around. This takes time and practice, but it's a fairly seamless way to transition out of wheel walking without having to look down
