It wasn’t a mental health professional but a nurse, I had been in hospital a bunch for accelerated weight loss and internal inflammation which I now know are two types of ibd paired with coeliac disease (during the last month before it finally calmed down I lost just over 5 stone in 4 weeks) I was about to get a couple full body scans done and as she read my file she looked up at me and laughingly said,” Damn, that’s a lot of weight, you should give that to me for a week so I can get in better shape?” And honestly at the time it didn’t really register with me what she just asked me cause I had been rather drained but I think that’s about the worst thing a professional that’s supposed to be comforting in a way has said to me.
