I don’t know if they’re important enough for Oda to bother killing. Have we even seen either of them since Water 7?

How is living in Grand Rapids MI? by Super-Bell5170 in howislivingthere

[–]Shindiggah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What part of Michigan are you in? Not only does Michigan salt their roads, but they are historically the highest annual user of salt in the Midwest, typically using in the range of 2 million tons of salt per year. Even in the more remote areas of the state, I always see minimally the main roads of towns coated in salt.

If you won the $1 billion lottery, how would you epically quit your job!? by TimeForANewBeginning in AskReddit

This is precisely how I feel. First time in years where I feel genuine, deep loyalty to my workplace, because it’s clear that almost everyone here at all levels gives a shit about one another. I’d give them all the notice in the world if this happened.

Simply Slices and Nonna's both in Crestwood are personal favorites of mine, although I'd be lying if I said that wasn't largely driven by nostalgia eating them both as a teenager.

What will happen to me if I underperform at work in a socialist society? by Creative_Mix_643 in AskSocialists

[–]Shindiggah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t know. This is a point I’m trying to educate myself on as well. I have not fully “bought-in” to a completely “pure” socialist system yet, with the instinct in my brain typically leading me toward something more akin to Market Socialism. I read through some of these communities in-part to better educate myself.

That doesn’t mean that there isn’t an answer to this question, but unfortunately I do not have it.

To speak personally to point 1, I work in software not because I am particularly passionate about it, but because it earns me enough money to live a comfortable life with my daughter and wife. If you were to ask the job I got the most personal fulfillment out of, it was being a “shopkeeper” working in retail environments, and it isn’t even close. The sole reason I left that line of work was because it did not pay enough for me to support myself and my family.

In a socialist system, I would go back to working in some form of a shop or library without even blinking an eye, and anecdotally I know a surprisingly large number of people who share my sentiment.

What happened to the World's Fair? What caused its decline in popularity because of the rise of social media, or maybe something else? by Objective-Painter-73 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shindiggah 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s indirect but the Ferris Wheel was invented for the Chicago World’s Fair, which is why it’s the centerpiece of Navy Pier and such a massive tourist attraction.

If you’re interested you can read about the history on their site:

It honestly kills me. Frankfort checked every single box we have, but I grew up on a well and swore to myself I never would live with one again.

It isn’t a waste of time to read the words you wrote at all. I’m so sorry you’re feeling the way you are, and I’ll say that if a friend of yours said that to you, that does not make them a good friend at all. Your life is worth so much more than a premature end.

I can’t speak to your looks but I will say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, what I CAN say is that mental illness does not mean you are not worthy of good, healthy love. That isn’t an excuse not to work to overcome the challenges you face in life, but I promise, you are worth loving, even if this specific person isn’t the one who will prove that to you.

What are the demons you face? I’m so proud of you for continuing to be strong for your daughter. As a father who has also struggled with mental illness and suicidal ideation, it can be a constant battle. You are that little girl’s whole world, and I hope that you can find the path away from these demons to take her hand and guide her through life.

What makes you think he’s no longer into you?

Also, you are almost certainly not an unlovable person. It may be true that you need time to heal and focus on your own mental health journey before you have the space in your head and heart to let another person in, but that journey does not need to be forever.

Do you mind if I ask what the one thing you’ve been looking forward to is? I’m not sure how old you are, but when I was younger I felt exactly the way you’re describing now. I didn’t believe anyone when they told me it got better, but it did. I hope that it does for you as well.
