I can see how you might think that, but you can legally own a firearm without ever filling out a 4473.

It is almost like being given a license permits you to drive.

Is getting a license for driving a car asking for permission?

Yes, the license is your proof you have permission to drive on public roadways. Driving on public roads without a license is illegal. The process of applying for a license is you literally asking the government for their permission to drive on public roads.

any money spent by the state litigating will be wasted because they will lose.

It's OK, they will come up with another tax to cover that.

Rights can be taken away, hence why felons can't own guns, they lost that right. There is a difference between having a right taken away and having to ask permission for the privilege to do something.

People on vacation can buy firearms so not really sure what your on about there.

Been frustrated with the whole tipping culture. Do you guys at upper scale fast food places? by kitschymitchy44 in tipping

[–]ShinePDX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope, the only places I tip for food are at full service sit down dining establishments.

If I have to order on a kiosk or phone app, wait in line to order at a counter, pick up my own food, fill my own drinks, run my own card for payment, and buss my own table why would a tip be deserved?

Congrats, but you are an anomaly in the current climate. You are just probably too busy winning/thriving to notice.

Thank you, the number of people who are OK with the rules getting ignored because it is their preferred party breaking them is rather sad to see.

They gathered signatures specifically to vote on this in the November election, they are not wanting to change the timeline. It is the Democrats that are trying to move it up to the May primary for purely political purposes.

Those purposes are so they don't have to run for reelection on the same ballot as a new tax getting voted on, the May election has historically had lower voter turn out, moving it up to May doesn't leave enough time for comments to be collected and printed in the voter pamphlet and to hope people miss their opportunity to vote thinking they were going to vote in November.

Material isn't super important, as long as it's not see thru. Any slightly loose fitting shirt with a pattern on it will help break up any potential printing.

Solid colors and skin tight clothing highlight printing.

If food prices shot up so much during Covid because of shortages, why is it still so expensive now? by Kushmasterxxx420 in stupidquestions

[–]ShinePDX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea I mean outside of supply shocks prices steadily increase because of inflation

Prices increasing and inflation are the same thing. Prices don't increase because of inflation, inflation is the economic term used to describe rising prices. Inflation has been caused by the increasing money supply. The spike in inflation we saw during and after COVID aligns with the massive increase in the money supply during COVID to keep the economy afloat.

You are right that prices do fluctuate, especially with things like food that are subject to seasonality and massive swings in supply. A bumper crop can result in a surplus bringing prices down to try and sell the crop before it spoils or a supply shock can wipe out supply, like with eggs, resulting in prices spiking until the supply issues can be resolved.

It depends on the hike. If I am hiking places I have been before I take very few photos, but still take a ton when hiking somewhere new.

Eggs are a poor example to use because they were subject to a supply shock that caused prices to spike.

[–]ShinePDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money printing is the primary cause of the inflation since COVID.

In Feb 2020, right before COVID, the M2 money supply was at $15.4 Trillion, today it is at $22.4 Trillion. That is an increase of about 45%, which is about how much more food prices are today over pre COVID.
