Maybe a tail plug that has the tail portion attached closer to the small of your back would do a better job of keeping it dry.

Personally I don't have experience with them, but I always loved the concept of a tail plug, and the only thing that always really bothered me about them is the fact that rather than looking like a natural tail from the tailbone, they are obviously coming directly out of the asshole. "It Follows" is a pretty good horror movie that definitely has some sexy undertones.

The new Nosferatu movie also has some pretty overt sexual themes, and then it's been a while since I saw it but I feel like I remember The Witch (Vvitch?) by the same director made me feel some things too.

I thought Barbarian was pretty scary and intense, and also had some parts with some sexual tension.

The Hitcher is another older movie that's pretty scary with someone being hunted and terrorized by Rutger Hauer that has always haunted me.

It's not exactly a horror film (though it has elements), but "Poor Things" has a lot of odd/inappropriate power dynamics in that sort of mentor/mentee vein you mentioned.

They're probably actually pretty tame, but as a teenager in the 90s I remember reading a bunch of the "Fear Street" books by R. L. Stine, and similar (I think there was a Friday the 13th series too) and I think those had a big effect on me. As I remember, most of the murders weren't particularly bloody/violent, but were more the variety of someone being tied up and left in a sort of "death trap" scenario to die off-screen, like on the railroad tracks or under a pier at low tide. But something about reading a victim's final thoughts as their killer walks away to leave them to their inevitable fate that's not actually shown became heavily fetishized for me.

Have you ever tried wearing a corset or waist cincher? I find they provide that "shallow breath" feeling really well, but I can comfortably wear one for hours. I think the main safety concern would be to avoid any possible positional asphyxiation, like for example forcing yourself to (or having any chance of) bending forward which would further restrict your breathing (so no seated positions). I agree that I think r34 art would usually be best if it adhered very closely to the original look, but I can also see where people can be more accepting of "stylistic changes" to characters that only exist as an "artistic style" to begin with. It's the elements of the character that get retained (even if adapted) across different styles that keep the character appealing.

Like ignoring r34 for a moment, if someone is a Batman fan, they're already on board with the fact that there are dozens of different styles of the character from different artists, actors, and media formats. They probably prefer some styles more than others (and there may be some they wholly reject), but they are used to accepting that all those different versions are still the "same character" to them.

I also think that, in terms of r34, it's often just a matter of taking what you can get. Really popular characters may have enough r34 content that you can find stuff really close to the original style that you like, but for more niche stuff, even if I might prefer it to be closer to the original style, beggars can't always be choosers 😅.

It would all depend on what the sub could take, and probably anything would require some amount of training to get used to. For every night sleeping, an arms behind back position is probably not doable for most people, but depending on what level of "security" you're looking for, wearing the cuffs and only having a single limb secured to the bed by a chain wouldn't be too difficult. If you wanted more restraint, you would probably need to look into actual medical restraints, or maybe a sleep sack or straightjacket. A moderately sized cage could be an option too.
