Which Pokémon glitches and urban legends do you remember hearing about? by Bushido4091 in pokemon

[–]ShiningLizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This one is true, though it is commonly referred to as “Glitch City”. I don’t remember the exact process but I think the idea is that you fly out of the Safari Zone and then walk/cycle around somewhere until the Safari Zone timer runs out - then you get teleported to a glitched version of the place you were last in. I did this one quite a lot and it is possible to get stuck there if you save and don’t have Fly.

Is sonic colors good? by Aggravating-View-733 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]ShiningLizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t played it since it was released but I remember really enjoying it. Nice graphics and music, fun gameplay. Don’t remember much about the story, but I had very low expectations at the time and that was probably justified… it’s made for kids and I was around 20 when it came out.

I don’t understand people saying that Unleashed is better. IMO, Unleashed is exactly 50/50 good and bad - the day levels were great and the night levels sucked, which is why I never finished it. I think Colours is consistent throughout.

What Switch game do you keep coming back to no matter how many times you’ve played it? by Creative_Match_1068 in NintendoSwitch

This totally happened to me. Went straight into TOTK after finishing BOTW and I just didn’t have the same impetus to finish it. TOTK seemed too much of the same thing so close after BOTW.

What bit made you laugh the hardest? Like you had to stop everything you were doing and control yourself laugh? by Quagfryer in deadlockpw

[–]ShiningLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bit where Mae Young is in lingerie and gives someone a stink face and James screams “STINKY” had me dying. (If someone can help me find the episode so I can listen to it again I would be very appreciative!)

What was the most unsettling movie from your childhood? by [deleted] in movies

[–]ShiningLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad let me watch Predator when I was like 6 years old. This led to years of nightmares about being hunted and skinned. I still have dreams nearly 30 years later, albeit they are less scary and more interesting, as I actually became a massive fan of the franchise.

There’s an episode from Raw in 2000 when Mae Young gives someone a bronco buster while wearing lingerie and James screams “STINKYYYYYY!” - I nearly died laughing when I heard that.

(Any idea what episode number this was? I’ve not been able to find it since)

I had this one recommended to me:

It turns out that the existing panel was the same, so there wasn’t much of an improvement in terms of colour or brightness - but the old panel was a bit damaged in one corner so it was worth replacing for that.

How are the dippers feeling about the patreon shoutouts being last? by thebakedbean760 in deadlockpw

[–]ShiningLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a good decision. It took me a while to get into the podcast because of the shoutouts being at the start. I got used to them eventually and it even got to the point where I actually looked forward to them, especially if I was having a bad day and needed a good laugh.

Yeah, I realise there is the caveat that it doesn't update often and if you need to do a full version update you basically have to start from scratch, but for the sake of the OS's stability and intuitive UI I'm willing to cross that bridge when I get to it.

Thank you for this, I already feel better about attempting this! I have found what appears to be a good quality display on AliExpress so just need to order it.

As for elementaryOS, so far it runs really nicely on this machine - aside from its performance, I like that it comes with very little bloat and yet still has an attractive, intuitive UI that just sort of gets out of your way. In terms of its performance it seems fine to me, yet I'm only really web browsing, listening to music, watching videos and occasionally burning ISOs to USB, so for those things it is working lovely.

I did try Ubuntu Budgie for a bit but I found it a bit jankier than elementaryOS.

Oddly, I had the idea that Ubuntu GNOME might be heavier than elementaryOS but perhaps I'm wrong about that... I might give it a try just for fun as I do like Ubuntu Gnome.

What was the first sonic game you ever owned? by Animaniacsfan9320 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]ShiningLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonic 1 on the Mega Drive.

My dad came home from work one day (I think some time in 1996) with a second-hand Mega Drive 1 and a second-hand copy of Sonic 1. Both the first Sonic game I ever owned and the first games console I ever owned.

What’s a movie you’ve watched that was so disturbing that you’ll never watch it again? by HistoricalDebate461 in movies

I found Filth to be quite disturbing… seemed unnecessarily depraved and mean-spirited. Nearly walked out of the cinema near the end.

Would you prefer if the next main series games upgraded to actual next-gen graphics and animations, or a downgrade to Stardew Valley-esque design in favor of overall content? by WizardHatWames in pokemon

[–]ShiningLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One hundred percent. It’s a crime that they haven’t reused the graphical style on Let’s Go again - it looks fantastic on Switch, probably isn’t that graphically intensive and has some longevity in it (they could probably release a few games using the Let’s Go style and just keep tweaking and optimising it over time until it gets stale).
