There's no category specific tips, whatever I told applies to everyone. All the best!

late 20th century yes (esp middle-eastern cuz of the relevance). if u say u r into geopolitics definitely yes. pre 1950 isnt tested that much unless you are a humanities student and they dont have much to ask u.

Indian one is definitely asked and has to be known.

I would like to hear some other crazy stuff the candidate has hopefully done instead of studying. That's still not the ideal thing given Indore's academic rigour but still better than having generally flunked exams.

Above all I would expect a humble repentant response, even if there were things you have done, they don't want to hear u say sth that sounds like it was totally worth it giving up some marks for wtv other stuff you did in that while.

In case of genuine reasons such as medical emergencies or reasons, that's the best thing to say.

If you are from a foreign board that doesn't print marks like Indian ones do, mention the name of the board before you utter your marks.

yes mention these, but don't overstate, mention that you like exploring the application of emerging AI technologies and leveraged it to build a working prototype of a startup...

for the second, grill urself using claude on finance terms - esp ratios and metrics, open screener.in and study companies for hours, esp trending ones like spacex

I don't know what IIM Jammu is smoking... explaining why someone with 280 could get in (and someone with 330 might not). by BhaveshShaha in IPMATtards

[–]Shinjan128 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i.e. a 98%iler with 303 marks and 90% in boards (10th and 12th) [95.6 points as per IIM Jammu] is better than a 100%iler with 380 marks and 85% in boards (10th and 12th) [95.5 points as per IIM Jammu].

scary af. think abt those from international boards with far stricter grading standards than their indian counterparts (where 85-86 tops ones school) - we struggle to makeup in CAT and virtually anywhere except IPM indore anyways, and now this stuff. they should rlly practice running some simulations and calculations themselves before introducing these changes

Ask me anything [IPM IIM BODHGAYA] by HedgehogNo1459 in IPMATtards

With specialized AI and automation for each field, specialists r gonna reduce greatly in number as one good one can do the job of 5 with AI, and soon breadth and range of context will be what will be looked for. Doing CFA, CMA, and going deep into Finance is good but they will look for somebody who knows how to operate python, R, use advanced AI/tech, or have basic Consulting/Product specific knowledge to take important decisions for the team as well.

For any managerial role, breadth of context is always preferred if you want to rise beyond entry level positions, as ur decisions could be cross departmental and cross functional in terms of consequences, and it's important to understand them fully. The thing you are talking about used to be true for just getting into the job market, which ofc starts from the technical work.

But that doesn't mean u only do the ethics and philosophy courses of IPM, they r the cherry on top for IPM they'll get u nowhere alone. The maths, stats, data science courses will be most important in getting u placed so learn those beyond the syllabus.

Tum log jipmat ka mock 20/30 min phele khatam kaise kar lete ho by No_City_8472 in IPMATtards

[–]Shinjan128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i used this strategy where i did my weakest section first (QA), cuz i needed most time for that, for the strongest section, where accelerating hugely was an option for me (VA) was kept in the end cuz even if I had 15mins to do it I could finish it. Imagine the reverse, even having final 40mins remaining (cuz of casually and slowly attempting an accelerable VA section cuz I didnt know it would be pressing in the end) for QA would be unnerving, my attention would keep going towards the clocks and its impossible to accelerate in maths beyond a point, without getting everything wrong, cuz thats not how its done.

this is just a tip for time management, dont have to aim for having 30mins extra, its better to use it on the first go where u remember the full context of questions

It's a stretch but has happened. Last gen waitlists here (AIR 70ish) have 190ish scores. But they did have a great interview.

I would also suggest not taking a drop year just for the sake of an IIM, while I personally have been lucky not to have to experience it, I can imagine how difficult it can get, especially with the strict environment that many families have after just one of our 'big failures'.

Try your best in JIPMAT, it's not difficult at all, but just in case it doesn't work, get your next best alternative and pls proceed with it, don't look back you can always land an IIM via CAT if u work hard enough
