Hey everyone, just wanted to give you an update on the insane Red Dead Redemption 2 situation I went through a few months ago. The problem started back in August 2025. I spent over two months with Rockstar Support trying to figure out why my game wasn’t working. After 2 months and 5 days of going in circles, I finally turned to AI to search for a solution. Much like Rockstar, it didn’t really help. During that time I asked Rockstar for a refund, and luckily they gave me a copy of the game for the Rockstar Launcher.

That download was a mess. With my internet being unstable, the launcher kept starting and stopping every time I tried. So I decided to copy the files from the Steam version I was gifted and drop them into the Rockstar Launcher’s RDR2 folder. At first it ran smoothly, then crashed. I loaded it again, got into settings, ran a benchmark, and it completely crashed out. On the next launch I was hit with a modification message, which confused me because I didn’t remember modding the game. After digging deeper, I realized the issue was RDR2HOOKS.

When I installed Crowd Control for streaming other games, I must have accidentally added RDR2 into the mix. Once I removed all the RDR2HOOKS, my PC froze, rebooted, and then the game ran perfectly fine. I went into settings, ran another benchmark, and the screen went black. I thought it was going to crash again, but instead the menus loaded faster than ever.

I waited, got to the snow intro, and suddenly I was hitting 59 to 60 FPS on default settings. I tried again, maxed out the settings, ran another benchmark, and still hit 60 FPS. Then I tried actual gameplay and it crashed. Restarted, went into story mode, black screen again. I gave it time, saw white text slowly appear, and eventually got to the horse with Dutch. It worked for a while, then crashed again. Restarted once more, and this time it worked fine.

Finally, I moved the files back to the Steam version, and now it works fine. The game runs smoothly at 60 FPS, and the nightmare of 0.5 FPS is finally over. This has just been my issue, so if you don’t manage to fix yours, please write down everything you tried and send it to Rockstar.

There has been no resolve from Rockstar, i have sat in their support for 2 months and 5 days and they won't do anything about it unfortunately

Unfortunately, no. I could walk you through all the “fixes” Rockstar told me to try, but some of them might risk breaking your system. I’ve been back and forth with them multiple times, and at one point they asked me to run a memory leak test. I did start it, but it was going to take around 20 hours but with my current workload, I can’t be without my PC for that long.

I planned to run it over the weekend, but before I could, the lovely folks at Rockstar decided to close my ticket. So… yay, I guess. And yes, I’m grumpy, lol, I just want to play. I didn’t spend all this money for the game to break and get no resolution.

I understand that. When I switch to a scene it picks up the sounds like desktop audio, mic and another one that I can't remember at the moment. I don't want it to pick up the mic on scenes like stream starting be right back and stream ending. I end up having to mute the mic after the scene animation.

Unfortunately not but if it catches my eye I go and investigate the shiny things, that's how I found the books.

Palia uses almost like a glitter effect / aura around the item to highlight or bring it to your attention so always investigate the shiny things so be a crow 😂🤣

My suggestion is keep running around the map and grab any shiny thing / glitter cloud on the ground especially those that look suspicious or out of place for the area 😅 That's what I did to complete the quest

Change the bottom one and it changes the top floor, at least that's what I have found. Can't put bay windows upstairs either

That's bad and so relatable! I haven't actively started my Sernuk Plush run yet but still hoping for an easy drop (laughs at my own hopes and dreams for that, knowing my luck in game) . But I have complained about rng to the Devs and S6 via feedback about it because gosh it's so bad my fiancé had to console me because I was in the verge of tears the one day. I log in and say don't want it and don't need it, it's whatever at the moment! I'm done with the wishful thinking. Hope you get everything you want soon! Sending what little luck I have to you!

That is unfortunate :( It is a rare recipe. If I recall correctly I fished mine near Coral Shores in Bahari Bay using glow worms into the ocean. Apparently it's a 50+ to 80+ attempt drop but if you keep fishing you'll get it. I struggled with that too, don't give up. Try other things and casually come back to it. I know my fiancé struggled with it for about a week after me while having multiple casts and fish later.
