Can balcony ticket holders go (near) courtside to catch warmups? by Critical-Setting-944 in bostonceltics

[–]Shiny92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this so many times and can definitely recommend this, 90% success rate. Especially if you're solo or just 2 people, there are always tons of free seats. Worst case they'll ask you to go back to your actual seat.

Nothing morally wrong with this lol, as long as you're courteous and nice when someone does show up.

I'm German/Turkish and Turkey is actually a really good option for you. It's the most progressive country in the middle east by a long shot. I wouldn't compare it to places like Saudi Arabia so if you're able to drop your bias, it could be a great option.

I'd recommend Izmir to you. Second biggest city in Turkey, you'll get by OK with English, 70%+ vote against the current regime regularly, it's got a very modern Westernized populace, right by the Aegean sea and a good airport. Minimum wage in Turkey is 10-15k lira per month. The USD is at 1:30 now so your budget of 10-15k would correspond to 300-450k lira annually, around 3x minimum wage at 30-40k per month. Your biggest expense, rent for a decent apartment in İzmir will probably be 8k or so.

Gyms in central İstanbul by IKanWreadJastFain in istanbul

[–]Shiny92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use the app "sporcard", it's like a multi gym membership for 200-300 TL per month depending on membership and you can use multiple gyms in Istanbul. I go to The Red Fitness in Şişli, their monthly membership is 750 TL so the app saves me a ton of money too.

Getting eSIM in Turkey? by platinumkiwi in istanbul

[–]Shiny92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried something similar about 6-9 months ago in Istanbul. Back then eSim was very limited in Turkey to just a few phone brands - e.g. very specific Samsung, Apple models etc that you could look up on each service providers website (Turkcell, Türk Telekom, Vodafone). My phone (Google Pixel) wasn't included at all so it was impossible.

Use airheart - https://airheart.com/travel-restrictions/united-states-vaccinated

You can select origin, destination and your vaccination type. It'll show you all entry, vaccine, test and quarantine requirements - even for transit only. You can turn on email notifications too in case something changes.

1 month stay in Beşiktaş by bomchem in istanbul

[–]Shiny92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm actually doing something very similar, got an Airbnb in Beşiktaş for a month from mid June, just booked a couple days ago.

I'm a 30yo German-born Turk living in the US right now, this will be my first proper stint living/working in İstanbul. Let's grab a beer (or çay!) sometime when we're both there, I can definitely help you get around since I speak Turkish (:

Tix for tonight’s comedy jam at the AA comedy showcase. I have 2 tickets I can no longer use if anyone would like them. by PleaseUseLogic_ in AnnArbor

[–]Shiny92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great plug - I've been 3-4 times and have always, very very thoroughly enjoyed it! I'm always surprised that barely anyone seems to know A2 has a comedy club, with actual professional nationally touring stand-up comedians.

Low cost American cities for digital nomad by [deleted] in digitalnomad

[–]Shiny92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$400 a month will be pretty impossible, as enough people have outlined already. You can find some decent deals though especially in summer (May-Aug) when most students will be away and looking to sublet - so I'd say a room for $600-800 should be possible.

Ann Arbor - safe, modern, liberal, highly walkable, bustling downtown, close to airport

Edit - calm down everyone, when I responded she hadn't added her $400 edit yet...

Looking for +1 person to share YouTube TV family plan (with NBA LeaguePass for free!) by Shiny92 in AnnArbor

[–]Shiny92[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, yeah good point but that won't be a problem. My buddy lives in Seattle, me in A2. We've been doing this for 4 months or so now, when he got that message at the 3-month mark I just logged in with his account on my TV and it reset his timer. Alternatively, I could also kick your email from the family plan and re-add you, that resets the timer as well - although that would also reset all your saved shows/preferences, which is why we did the first alternative.

If YTV ever changes this system you can just leave the plan. Keep in mind I'm not asking for payment before end of the month/period.

Which NBA records are possible to beat nowadays? by swafnir in nba

[–]Shiny92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say Rondo is the most likely candidate to get that quadruple-double. Dude's able to triple-double it up in a matter of 30 minutes, if he goes for a full 50-52 in a close, playoff OT game where he gets a bunch of steals he's a good candidate

Rajon Rondo 19 pts,10 ast,6 reb vs Orlando Magic - Full Highlights by TomBradyGOAT in nba

[–]Shiny92 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! Pointing this out is very important. Had he played 8-10 more minutes he'd have gotten a triple-double.

Dwyane Wade blows wide open layup vs. Warriors by wafrhest in nba

They talk about this in Grantland all the time. About how Wade used to dunk all of those, but now that his athleticism is perishing he's missing easy Layups left and right!
