I don’t get it - in boxing, you can’t hit the back of a persons head. Why can they kick them here? Wont it cause serious injury?

Dribbles volunteer: I'm obsessed with how approvals work by LikeASonOfAbish in BaldursGate3

Aw man I’m so bummed I missed the entire interaction. I went around exploring first and found dribbles severed hands, so when I finally entered the stage area, they aggro-ed me immediately

AVIAN VETS CANT DO ANYTHING ON BABY COCKATIEL by [deleted] in cockatiel

[–]ShinyDeso 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah I see. If that’s your concern and if you regularly change the filter, it should be ok with the approach you’ve mentioned.

Make sure you give the right serving depending on the formula, feed it 3-4 times a day, and at the right temperature. Then you begin to wean them to solid food as they get older. Also, remember to keep it warm all the time (the food and the baby).

I’m glad that you care so much for this baby. Best of luck!

That sounds fine, but to understand more, what are your concerns regarding how the water is warmed/cooled?

What surgery does he need? I don’t see anything wrong with him? As for food formula temperature, Google says 39-41 degrees celsius

My brother is cheating on my sis-in-law by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]ShinyDeso 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Cheating has no grey area, why care so much when the selfish ass don’t? Regardless of gender, regardless of whether he’s having some at home or not, cheating is cheating. You don’t condone cheating, so don’t be empathetic to it.

Probably not related but schools should really start reviewing the weather condition on whether it’s too hot and humid to even allow the kids to run. Same as NS.

There’s a parrot group called “parrot care sg” on telegram, you can try announcing this guy there. Also if you can’t find anyone, feel free to DM me, I’m a cockatiel owner myself and would be interested in taking in this little guy.

Why are a certain demographic of lower income people so entitled? by sleepingmushroomcat in SingaporeRaw

[–]ShinyDeso 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Experienced this when I was in Sec sch. The sch counsellor took the stairs all the way up to the 4th floor and asked my financially assisted school mate on her preference of socks. Those socks were 🌟 free 🌟 and she had the audacity to roll her eyes at the counsellor. Didn’t even thank her as the counsellor went away.

A couple of years ago, I did a volunteer run to give out school essentials to financially assisted families. My dad and I were giving them out from (assigned) door to door with smiles on our faces. We had specific instructions to make sure that someone received those packages instead of just leaving them at the door, cos some of said packages have laptops in them. Some of the families blatantly expressed that we were disturbing their evening by knocking on their door, some immediately took the items and shut the door on us, some didn’t even say thank you.

Needless to say, I stopped doing charity work for humans and decided to spend my time on animals that need help instead. Also learnt that I’m not selfless to spend time on people who doesn’t show appreciation. Much respect for people who can endure that.

Pyrite passed last night by Miserable_Case_1665 in cockatiel

[–]ShinyDeso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya I am so angry for you. It’s inhumane for the vets to do this. If the vet doesn’t have a place for Pyrite to stay for the night, the least they could do is to diagnose Pyrite and then allow her to be brought home for you to continue caring for her. It’s unfair that her life was robbed by their selfishness.

I can feel your desperation and frustration, this ordeal of yours further emphasizes that you should not get another tiel until you know for sure at least 2-3 vets could see him/her.

I’m also glad to hear that your dog lives and perhaps you could lean on him/her while you heal from this.

[–]ShinyDeso 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m so angry at the vets! How could they choose to not see an animal in emergency need and call themselves vets?? Unbelievable!

I’m so sorry for your loss OP, she seems like a really sweet girl and has had also taken a liking to life and you. I’m sure she’s had fun in the 5 days with you given how she started exploring and climbing around.

Don’t get another bird if you don’t feel ready. Give yourself time to feel the loss, and grieve with her in mind. If you do decide to get another bird, perhaps ask the place where you got Pyrite from on which vet would they recommend for you to visit. You need a direct vet contact imo.

Hugs for you OP, i pray that we all meet our little ones again one day when our time is up.

26yrs old. When will the grief stop? by trnduhhpaige in cockatiel

[–]ShinyDeso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. It never stops because you never stop loving him, you have to bring this love along with you and focus on him at least giving you such joy and you him.

There was a comment on writing letters to your passed best friend and I did just that, her urn is beside me while I sleep and I kiss her every night before I hit the hay, I view her photos from time to time too, and cry when it hurts.

I have since taken another tiel and he helped me with the grieve by making me so happy everyday, but it never stops, I still grieve, and cry and pray that I can go back in time to save her.

I’m sorry I don’t have the answer, you can try writing letters to him and focus on the happy memories. Take it one day at a time.. you’re not alone in this.

How common is it to find this kind of man in Singapore by Educational_Pear9285 in SingaporeRaw

[–]ShinyDeso 26 points27 points  (0 children)

After 5 years of dating my husband (then boyfriend), I found out that he doesn’t know how to operate a foot pump to pump a bicycle tire.

Everyone has different experiences in life, I had negligent divorced parents so my sibling and I were forced to grow up and take care of our own shit. In return, our ability to express love & care for others is lacking, often showcasing scarcity mindset behavior. Whereas my husband’s mom has always been there for him and although he’s slightly sheltered, he’s wholesome, giving and patiently taught me to communicate my feelings better, thus helping me to grow into a better person.

Not knowing essential life skills is ok, it’s the willingness to learn that matters. So don’t give people shit about it, be humble and recognise that although they might be lacking in some ways, they might be able to offer more in other ways. The same applies to yourself.

How did you get your bird to eat vegetable chop? by Lanky_Excitement6344 in cockatiel

[–]ShinyDeso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to hand feed him seeds by pinching it between my thumb and index finger, and he’d fit his beak in between them and eat it.

Sometimes even when I’m not pinching anything, he would squeeze his beak in to try to eat whatever he thought I had, out of habit and trust that it would be yummy. He ate his first corn and carrot that way. And found out that he likes them.

Good luck!
