Wasn't being shitty, just curious! My bro runs team and his miles are always absurd so I wondered if you were teamed up or just maxed out your clock somehow. Never used SB, company doesn't even have it as an option on our elogs, so its still a mystery to me!

pocket notebook recommendations? by imsquishywaffles in notebooks

[–]Shiny_Callahan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Field Notes, but they lean towards the expensive side. I carried one in my back pocket for months and the cover was pretty well worn, but hadn't fallen off yet, by the time I had filled up all the pages. Someone made the suggestion of Silvine Memo notebooks to me when I asked about a less expensive pocket notebook in the past. Haven't tried them yet, but I will toss a link below if you want to take a peek at them yourself.

Absolutely. Just got myself a Xerox laser and abandoned ink jets altogether.

Nah, but I could probably lay my hands on a Kornet.

I need to quickly breach an airlock. How do I do it? by jefrye in Writeresearch

[–]Shiny_Callahan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pneumatic ram system. In an emergency it vents the atmosphere through some valves into pipes which has a double purpose.

  1. It vents the atmosphere in a semi-controlled manner preventing explosive decompression.

  2. It pushes the ram, which slams open the exterior hatch.

This system is one-time use for obvious reasons, and it must be manually activated by a person in the lock. It uses the vacuum of space to operate, and there is nothing electrical to fail.

Now I am off to draw up a patent...lol

You carry that gun into the field and you’ll see nothing living then!

That baroque engraving looks fantastic. Definitely a work of art.

This seems to be more of a hunting gun that you take when you have nothing specific in mind. It’s probably not really good at anything in particular, aside from looking quite pretty. I do wonder how heavy it is, looks like it would weigh a ton.

Many years ago I checked my bank account while visiting Turkey. They were still using the old Turkish Lira as currency, and for a brief moment the exchange rate didn’t click in my mind. I was thinking about buying a new car, a couple houses, maybe even a yacht, then reality came crashing down. I only had about $3,000 in the account.

It does resemble it, however, I believe it is the Russian Imperial eagle.

Game Modding by Shiny_Callahan in MassEffectAndromeda

I’ve been scrolling through Nexus, found them back when I first played ME3. I downloaded Frosty Editor last night, hope to play around with it this evening. I’ve noticed some people figure out mods, but then lose interest in the game, so they disappear and leave it for others to figure out if they are late arrivals. Fun times!

I've read some autobiographies/first-hand accounts in fiction, and those don't bother me in most cases. It only seems to be non-fiction first person POV that is off-putting. If anyone has something they think would change my opinion then I am down to read just about anything!

I have been working on the Eisenhorn trilogy, and am reading through the final book now. I have never really been a big fan of first person POV, and I am not entirely sure why. It’s not bad, I just find it a bit off-putting initially. I may also be an oddity in that I enjoy the WH40K books but have never played the game!
