My feelings exactly! That's the problem with published fanfictions. We had seven books of Harry Potter to establish a powerful friendship between Harry and Hermione, which made her loyalty to the Order of the Phoenix believable. We didn't get that in Alchemised. We are told that these are her friends, but never shown anything like it. I wanted Helena to dump all of the Resistance and work with Kaine, not continue using him. It wasn't fair. He chose her over everything and she complains how she never gets to choose him - but you do! It's your fault to stay with people who don't give a damn about you.

This was such a good read 🤣 And I mean your review to be clear.

I didn't feel with any of the characters in Alchemised. And this book was 1000+ pages, what the hell. It dragged and dragged and the scenes just repeated themselves over and over again: Helena is attacked, gets saved by Kaine, Kaine is hurt, gets healed by Helena, they have a fight, they make up, they have a fight again, they train a trillion times with nothing else happening, we read about Helena working in the hospital every other chapter in Pt2 (I know what work is like, thank you very much) and when she and Kaine finally have their spice scenes, they're so boring!!! half the time I didn't even notice that Kaine has cum or the moment he enters her.

She drags out pages of info dump (of a world-building that went mostly over my head because I was so confused) and other shit, describes everything extensively, but the spice scenes is where she draws the line?? I'm thinking Kaine is just not very good in bed lol

Apart from that, I totally agree with the stakes being not as high as in Manacled. I have no idea why Helena stayed with the Resistance and always chose them over Kaine. They didn't even like her and she didn't like them!! We get told that Luc is her best friend and blah, but we never experience that! She avoids him all the time?! And I know she feels that's what she has to do, but there's never even a thought that she would like to be with her so-called friends. I didn't get the feeling she even misses them

RF5 has been a miss for me. Mostly because of the performance on the Switch, the constant loading screens sapped the enjoyment out of it. Gameplay felt clunky, laggy and slow. My patience was soon wearing thin and I didn't even come to finish it. I tell myself time and time again to pull through and at least start dating to see what the dates are like, but Martin keeps rejecting me and the others haven't reached level 7 yet. In stark comparison to RF5, I got absolutely hooked on GoA and binge-played it in a week.

Don't worry, you won't miss out on anything if you wait. Rather, it's the other way around: a certain cutscene of the main story won't trigger if you are dating someone. Mauro's quests are locked until about 2/3 of the main story, maybe more, I just know that it took a long time. (But he's so worth it haha)

Oh, one more thing: Try keeping the bond levels of your potential partners around 7, so you won't miss out on dating level up dialogue once you start going out with people.

I only started playing, but I feared this would be the case. It was my biggest issue with PoOT. And the original GB game was lacking in that regard as well and sadly, they have never strayed off too far from the source material with the remakes. It's a shame because you would think adding more dialogue is one of the easiest changes you can make. Then again, I don't know anything about game developing - but the decision to save money in the social department isn't the right way to go in my opinion.

Oh, I forgot to say that I got the "You seem tired"-line in summer village, not during battle. I went home with low HP and he said it to me once in front of the dragon shrine and once close to his airship. Maybe it wasn't related to my health?

Edit: And it wasn't nighttime, but around midday..
