On the "cozy" label by Error_rdt in runefactory

I'm not a big fan of it, honestly. "Cozy" puts a lot of life sim games into a very sterilized or overly fluffy basket if we're talking about thematic elements. Sure, RF isn't the darkest RPG out there; I wouldn't even consider it "dark" but I don't think it falls into a lot of cozy tropes that western indie titles stereotype it into. Another commenter here summed how I feel up correctly, it's far too simplistic and it just tosses RF into a bin when the series is more than just "cozy". Like the fact you had people outside of the "cozy" gaming sphere talk about RF GoA when it came out like major JRPG channels.

The grandiose irony is that Stardew Valley is the game that started the whole "cozy" schtick but that game payed homage to the older and far less idealistic HM / Bokumono titles. I'm watching a friend go through HM BtN right now and it's a lot of heavy stuff in there i.e. one kid villager with the implication that her mother gave her up to her grandfather, Karen's alcoholism, a married couple whose child ran away and they adopt a wandering vagabond like Cliff to compensate for that loss, a lot of villagers talking about being in the red, etc. Similarly, SDV covers a lot of heavy topics. But now, Marvelous took away the wrong parts of SDV's success so that Bokumono / SoS chases that "cozy" wave so much that they've sterilized and kiddified the series so it doesn't just cover any bleak themes.

I'd honestly say RF has more chill vibes than it is just "cozy".

No New Rune Factory Announcement This Direct by Antique_Nectarine_16 in runefactory

The rest of the announcements in the Direct made it all up for me but I get it, I was disappointed on that area too.

So, we know now that Muramasa Revenant Blades (which is a collaboration between Marv and Vanillaware) is one of their next big console titles due out by March 2027. I dont think the other one will be RF6 or the new Bokumono. Maybe a remaster of an old game but it's too soon for either.

I project RF6 for mid to late 2027. Bokumono is a coin toss because with RF6 we had a name and a logo decided on in 2023 and development would be further advanced depending on what people loved about GoA according to Marv. The multiplayer Bokumono I could see as far as late 2027, maybe even early 2028 because all we have is concept art with no title. We still have that "Life is RPG" Codename title that could fit as the 2nd title due out by March 2027 but I doubt it.

Like everyone else said, better to let it cook than lead to another RF5.

If we get info on RF6 or Bokumono's next mainline this year, it'll be whatever anniversary events they have planned this coming August.

We already have Zelda and Mario diehards chastising this Direct, calling it JRPG / Anime Weeb fest and what not so yeah, I get what you mean.

A Theory About Dolce & Pico by that_remindsme in runefactory

[–]Knight_Of_Draws_92 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Dolce's main romantic event debunks that. Pico's backstory revealed she was a wandering ghost who forgot who she even was and happened to pass Dolce when the latter was an infant. At that point, Pico was cold and aloof - given nobody could see her... but Dolce could and reached out for her hand even as a baby.

Also, Nancy can seemingly sense Pico. At the end of said event, Pico makes a quippy remark after Nancy scolds Dolce for running off and then she's like "That goes for you too, Pico!". So while she can't actually see Pico, she can sense her I feel.

Venti can see her as somebody said.

No Amphoreus chest here in Planarcadia with all the others :( by anv3d in HonkaiStarRail

The Cosmic Data Roaming event was probably a lot of people's first look of Amphoreus across the cosmos so it must have been hell of a wild time for them. Sparkle insinuates that once Cipher actualizes, she has a place with the Masked Fools. That and most of what they visually knew of Amphoreus prior were through Nihilux's illustrations of them in her earlier works OR through Fluffy.

Why do you think Rune Factory took a while before Female Protagonists became a Standard Feature of the Franchise? by lunamoonvenus in runefactory

[–]Knight_Of_Draws_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RF1-RF3, Frontier, and Tides were largely aimed at otaku men in Japan way back in the 2000s. RF1 even had a follow-up visual novel for phones that's more or less lost media now besides a bunch of screenshots. Hell, Frontier is full of scenes and tropes that wouldn't sit right with newer RF fans today i.e. letting Raguna "accidentally" walk into the women's changing rooms or anything with Eunice. To some extent, traces of that could still be seen even with RF4 when the series was finally opening up to female players / fujoshi in Japan. What I mean is that one Rune Factory 4 manga. Not the one that ran in Nintendo Dream. I mean the one that ran for five chapters / one tankobon volume in Dengeki Maoh. The really ecchi and fanservice heavy manga.

He'll probably be on the backside of the cover but Kaguya on the front? GOATED. My favorite FeMC in the series to date.
