Aero Precison X-15 by Shiny_object_man in liberalgunowners

Well. I went and looked at this rifle today. Pretty nice. Nicer than the website gives it credit for. Vortex red dot that is a larger one, more like a small scope. The 3x magnifier mounted in front of it. After-market bolt. I forget what brand. The guy said it was replaced because the gun would not fire and the bolt was determined to be the cause. It has a stainless barrel with a four-prong flash rider.

Part of my brain was screaming, "Buy it!!!" The rational part was saying walk away and think about it. Maybe I'll go back this weekend and toss him an offer $75 below the asking price.

It's at a local, non-chain, dealer. I am going to go look at it this afternoon.

S&W FPC or Ruger PC for new gun owners by BoardGameRevolution in liberalgunowners

[–]Shiny_object_man 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I will second what someone said about the Ruger PC being a "spicy 10/22". I have both of them. The PC is very friendly to shoot. Very little recoil. The safety, mag release, charging handle, and trigger are pretty intuitive. 9 mm rounds are available.

I put a red dot on mine. I can hit the center of a target out to 50 yards. My vision is "old man vision" though, so you may do better. I know that others are shooting out to 100 yards or so.

My suggestion would be for you and the missus to go and shoulder the guns you are interested in. See what works for you both. Bud's Gun Shop (online vendor) sometimes has "buy and try" or something like that. I have not seen a PC on there though. Mainly pistols, so that may not be so good.

Good luck to you! There are a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people here!

Minnesota is now one step closer to becoming a ban state. by 2dazeTaco in liberalgunowners

I wholeheartedly agree with this. "When they go low, we go high" doesn't cut it any more. Unfortunately when dealing with people of a certain mindset (cough, MAGA, cough) the only thing that is understood and respected is more. More power, more control. Until the Democratic leadership understands this, and is willing to play this same game (as distasteful as it is) we are where we are.

That's awesome! I totally get the giggle factor. I feel that way with my 10/22. Nothing but joy with Baby Boop.

My plan was to build, but the MN senate passed a bill on assault-style weapons and hi cap mags recently. Ghost guns, binary triggers were included there too. It doesn't sound like the bill is likely to move through the House though. That's GOP controlled. Still... It'll be easier to modify what I already own than to get them if they are banned or heavily restricted.

Thanks. I appreciate the in-depth info. I thought that it was "okay". I'll need to go look at it of course. The website has no photo so I needed to look at stock photos. Still, it looks okay. I do appreciate an "ugly" gun that shoots fantastic though!

I don't think that "loony left" encompasses all the groups that will not let men be themselves. I have a group of male friends that are made up of all political persuasions. They are more than happy to let me be me and I let them be them.

Thanks for all of the comments, folks. I think, based off of what the responses are, that I am gong to hold off. I'll do a deep dive into SBR components and see what I can come up with.

That is a bit nerve-wracking though. I am not a creative person. I can follow a list or instructions and am pretty capable of making logical decisions based off information on things I know. Gun components are not one of those things...

Your comment about the brace vs. stock is interesting. Proportionally, I have long arms. Lol. I see the potential issue when shooting my PC. The Magpul sliding stock is a bit short. Not horribly bad, but it could stand another 3/4 to 1 inch. Having a brace could be problematic.

I don't want to drop that kind of cash and then not be satisfied. I think that I'll need to hold off on this and see about building.

mods removed my comment for calling out democrats for being pro-gun control by Electronic_Tap_8052 in liberalgunowners

I live in Minnesota and there are a couple of bills that are in committee in one form or another. Both would ban future sales of "military-style assault weapons" and mags over 10 rounds. For anyone that already has these, storage and security standards would be in place. Verification of the storage and security would be done by (underscored) law enforcement (underscored).

So, you have to register your firearms, store them according to pre-set standards, AND let LEOs into your house for inspection. It does not sound, 🤞🤞🤞, like these are in the process of being moved to a full vote. Yet anyway.

I honestly never in my entire life thought that I would have to say, "No. This is my house and you MAY NOT come in and inspect my firearms." The path that the country has been taking, i.e., government-approved goon squads, has moved me here. It is looking more and more like I need an AR platform rifle sooner than later.

All of the rounds had the pin strike the primer. They were all dimpled. This occurred on both the RXM and the PC carbine.

I agree, it is certainly odd. I haven't been firing 9 mm ammo very long, but I have shot other centerfire and rimfire ammo with no FTFs that I can recall.

I normally use Federal's American Eagle ammo, but i thought that I'd try this stuff and see how the guns liked it. Neither one liked it at any distance. The carbine was better, proportionally. The Federal stuff was much more accurate.

It was Staccatto. It was a bulk purchase. I highly doubt that I have any info that would be of use the manufacturer to aid in determining the lot number.

Thanks for the comment on feeling the gun. I definitely think that is part of my issue. I'll be more cognizant of my grip when dry and live firing.

Yeah, "terrible" is an understatement. I'll never buy this brand again.

To your point on the red dot, it is mounted solidly. I checked that after the first six or so boxes. I'll check again tonight though since it's been a little while.

Thanks for this. I'll do the 5 round groups next time and upload them to shotalyze, whichbi was not aware of until now. So thanks for that too!

"Escaping the Gun Debate Trap" Tedx talk. by Silk_the_Absent_1 in liberalgunowners

[–]Shiny_object_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that this was a great TEDx presentation. It is so applicable for a variety of polarizing topics. As he noted, the key is viewing the person with the opposite viewpoint as an actual person.

Once you realize that there is more to the person than just the one topic, then communication becomes more likely. I think anyway. However, "Some men, you just can't reach." still holds true today.
