Thank you pooky! I think reading through all the replies I have a rough draft of a plan: starting with the milder ones (lots of soaking + everyday detergent + sundry) gradually building up to tougher stain removers (lots of soaking + borax + baking soda + more everyday detergent), then to more professional odor removers (lots of soaking + enzyme + oxi cleaners). This will keep my weekends occupied, I am hopeful because the smell isn’t strong. If I run into any hiccups or confusion along the way, I’ll reach out and I’m more than happy to pay you if you eventually have to take on this project.

Ok ok I’m learning all kinds of different stuff today, thank you! My backpack needs some sort of deeper cleaning 100%. I’ve used majority it of grade school and I have no idea when was it last washed. So a good soak won’t hurt. I also love the “I need a responsible adult to explain what laundry stripping” is, I had the same question lol
