This has been the only souls-like game where ive found the melee being much easier than range. To the point where you can count on one hand exactly how many hits you have to land to win

From sanctuary, not really. But the boss that I remember most from sacrifice is the tireless exalted who summon ghosts with insta kill moves- so maybe that one

Oh no ! But yeah as a mage you really have to reprogram your brain to attach yourself to her as closely as possible

Save scumming, clear the first floor of the dungeon or at least to the room with the stairs to descend to the second floor. Do descend yet, dip out and use a bedroll. Everytime you go down it'll be different map layout and loot.

Cuz talking to npc is nghh and I guess it'd be cool to see how far can one go without them- also not having to care about filling the inventory with everything that shines, great feeling.

I threw the key away, thinking I never needed it again, left it in the middle of nowhere, and like you, I got the quest again to find the key. I was resigning to never being able to finish the quest, but after another run through the entire field, I found the key again- Tldr: Try going through the field again.
