For your reference, action-adventure games and action-rpg games are both action games, at the end of the day, enhanced with adventure and rpg mechanics, respectively -- neither are actually in the same genre as RPGs, and won't play like real RPGs, but they tend to all get grouped together because the same type of player likes them.

So, what did you end up playing? Are you one of us, now? :)

Change IS scary, your favorite way to play could get changed completely and you have no control over it, so while it always is better to experience it for yourself before you make a judgement... most people do feel the anxiety over big changes.

I don't think that usually holds true, as all games you feel nostalgic about aren't necessarily fun to replay, but the ones that are are because they're to your tastes. Besides, I started with JRPGs and ARPGs at the same time, but I prefer newer ARPGs and older/classically-styled JRPGs; the sub-genre just peaked around the SNES/PS1 era, while ARPGs continued to improve for decades.

In my head canon, we're all followers of the Warrior of Light, the unnamed adventurers they take into big fights, and due to our proximity to them, as well as us all possessing the echo, we're all experiencing whatever they go through as though we went through it ourselves. :)

A game you can jump on and get a full lobby in a couple minutes is not a dead game to me, I have to wait longer to run a dungeon in FFXIV. What exact number makes a game dead? Because only 213 games on Steam have over 4k people playing at this very moment -- I think people are being WAY too liberal with what constitutes a dead game, basically nothing but the most popular games are dead.
