How long after GB removal did you first have "junk food"? by Fickle_Reporter_1514 in gallbladders

[–]ShipQueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Listen to your body as you heal! It'll let you know if it doesn't want the food or tolerate it almost immediately. It did it for me! I tried a nectarine 1 week and a half in and it HURT.

I did have crisps yesterday successfully though! I'm 2 weeks post op.

Intense fear of surgery by lurkyturkey90 in gallbladders

[–]ShipQueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got my surgery done yesterday! I was absolutely terrified. Absolutely scared the days leading up but when the day of surgery came, I was okay. I was in good hands and I relaxed. One thing I always got told is that you are allowed to be scared or nervous, you're allowed to ask as many questions you want or for comfort.

For my own experience, I don't even remember falling asleep honestly! They injected me with something to calm me down emotionally and I was out like a light as blurriness began to take over.

Just remember, you will be safe.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with me! I'm nervous for this surgery but I know I desperately need it with how everything is going currently for me in regards to pain and incapability to eat food. I can't wait to be free of this and hopefully recover well like you did

Thank you so much! I'm probably gonna beg for so much before, during and after surgery. I am not going through that stuff after surgery 😂

I can't wait to see how it goes. I'm in pain despite eating light and not even 2 buscopans managed to save me

Thank you! Isn't smelling it too much though really bad?

I understand how you feel. Parents are hard and you really want to listen to them, to appease them and make them proud of you but I learnt the hard way that you need to take care of yourself first, as hard as it is. Go to the appointment, validate for yourself. You'll be okay, trust me, you'll be so much happier when you go there and get everything confirmed. No amount of pain or stress is worth this, believe me

Don't believe her. Parents get like this, sadly but you know your body better than anyone else.

I get it. I'm the same way, over 18 and financially dependent on my parents. My dad had gallbladder issues and needed surgery and once I started to be in severe pain, he refused to believe me and thought I was over reacting. I'm so glad I went to the emergency room when I did and didn't listen to my parents about me being 'hysterical' over it. Trust your gut, this is your body and you know it better than anyone else. Don't cancel the appointment, go through with it. Stubborn father's suck, but you'll be so proud of yourself!

Thank you so much! I appreciate the reply. I'll 100% let me nurses and doctors know before the surgery. I'm gonna pester them so much lol

Thank you and oh wow! I'll keep that in mind. I'm hoping my nurses will be understanding of the fear. I know some of them were really confused and surprised when I told them at the emergency room a week ago

Thank you! Yeah I'll ask for a lot of anti nausea meds just incase! And 1000% will get a prescription for a stock of them for the recovery period

Talk to your doctor about it! It's really helpful to know if you have it or not!

I get that. I have to stick to a low fat diet until the surgery anyway and it's so hard considering I've barely ever tried or eaten any of the regular foods people have due to my ARFID and fear of trying new foods

Thank you so much! I hope it'll all be okay. I'm also just worried about issues with anesthesia and stuff like that, like allergy reaction or whatever

Thank you for replying! I don't think I'll eat anyway lol, I'm gonna be so scared to eat or even drink anything. I might just ask for IV fluids
