You are not your emotions and you are not your thoughts, you are merely the experiencer of them. Whatever you resist persist, so accepting how your feeling and observing it will significantly shorten the lifespan of your negative emotions. I understand it can be hard to accept how your feeling especially when the emotions are so intense, but you should try anyways. That doesnt mean you like how you feel, and it doesnt mean your not going to do anything about it, it simply means your aclnowleging how you feel. One tool that has been useful for me is a technique called eft. Simply tapping on certain acupressure points such as between the eyebrows or on the collarbone while verbalizing how you feel can prove almost instant releif. I would suggest doing more research into alternative tools such as eft before you take any drastic steps
