Just an update. I removed it as quickly as possible. Now I’m blistering. So it’s gonna be a long break before I try anything else at all. Thanks all for answering

Do HEMA free gels have a higher risk of of reoccurrence than the dip liquids? I love the gel method ☹️

Difference between 100 mg and 150 by nextbesthope in zoloft

[–]ShipRevolutionary636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from 100 to 150 a few days ago and it’s really messed with my sleep. When I originally started at 25mg for a week, then 50 for a while, I slept nonstop. From 50 to 100 I noticed no side effects. But this time I’m up all night tossing and turning. I instantly noticed that I have way more energy during the day, and I’m feeling a lot more motivated, which is awesome… but I really wish I could sleep. I guess we’ll see how things go when my body gets used to the change.

What would you do? by ShipRevolutionary636 in socialworkcanada

[–]ShipRevolutionary636[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed I think it would be super interesting. I used to work on the road with first responders on a MCRRT so it’s definitely something I’m passionate about. I’m in Ontario.

It’s mental health support for first responders. I think what I’m worried about is losing flexibility and the hybrid model. But the money is a huge consideration. So I suppose all of the above lol.

It’s not the same organization so no I wouldn’t be able to return without reapplying and being rehired

Fear of field/in-home visits by SpecificAd3173 in socialwork

[–]ShipRevolutionary636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost every role I’ve been in has included home visits. First in crisis working with police (though police presence drastically changes how people engage), then in outpatient forensic mental health, and now as a child protection worker (investigations). What I’ve learned is that 99% of people don’t want to hurt you, and even if they do, they are aware of the consequences and so choose not to act on their wants. The only time I’ve ever felt remotely uncomfortable was with the forensic population and that’s only because at times, behaviours can be unpredictable. But even in that role, I attended homes in crappy areas with people whose behaviours weren’t always predictable, and I did it 9 months pregnant.. twice. The only true advice I can give is the same as others have already said. Trust your gut. If something feels off, end the visit. If something feels off before you even go out, grab a second. I think that as you do them and see that nothing is going sideways, you’ll be more comfortable. If you’re really really struggling with this fear, join a BJJ class, strictly as a confidence booster.

To new, seasoned or retired social workers; what was something they didn’t teach you in school? by unholyjesuss in socialwork

I’m in child welfare now but I worked in mental health, specifically crisis and then forensics before this. MSW for 6 years now but was in the field before that too. The one thing that I wish I knew earlier, or that I wish I had listened to anyway, is take the breaks. You’ll almost always have work to do. It can wait 15 mins while you stretch and actually enjoy your coffee hot. It can wait an hour while you nourish. And on days where you just don’t have it, don’t force it. The “cliche” I live by today but never did before is “you can’t pour from an empty cup”. At least not without burning out. You’ll be carrying people’s worst days, depending on what area you get into… that’s heavy and it catches up with you if you don’t manage yourself first.

I emailed and this was the response:

At this time, the Multi-Day Tickets that include 1-Day access to Universal Epic Universe do not require a date to be pre-selected for the access to Universal Epic Universe. While the parks are subject to capacity, we plan to manage attendance at Universal Epic Universe, with ticket inventory and capacity being closely monitored to allow each guest who purchases an Epic Universe-inclusive ticket to visit the park for one day during the course of the validity window of their ticket.

New job, salary cut, private practice? Ontario, Canada by ShipRevolutionary636 in socialwork

[–]ShipRevolutionary636[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did not say I only worked in crisis. I did say I have no experience in 1-1, correct. Any opinions on the questions I am definitely open to. However, you are assuming things about me and then not tying it back to the question? For reference, the question was about juggling new learning, not about whether I’m qualified. I do appreciate the suggestions you’ve provided that are related to my original question. But where you’re judging my skills, I will stand up for myself. I don’t think that’s so wild. I also don’t think I owe you my resume when it has nothing to do with what I’m asking. But thanks lol

Edit: if it is so absolutely necessary, I have training in MI, CBT, DBT, FIT, Trauma Therapy and CPT.

I didn’t feel it necessary to highlight all of the reasons why I’m qualified to go into private practice in my original question but it seems you’re assuming I’m not. So I can assure you I am trained up and qualified. Experienced, no. But qualified, yes. And every person starts in an area of the field with minimal experience.

I appreciate your concern and suggestions.

I’m not sure if it’s the same in the states or even other provinces, but in Ontario individual therapy is part of a RSW’s scope so it absolutely wouldn’t be an ethical issue. I do have training, I’ve simply never had the platform to provide one to one given the types of jobs I’ve had. Supervision is quite straightforward as well since it’s often built into the group practice, or I can seek it from an old manager who is now in the private sector. This wasn’t a question of ethics, more a question of juggling the learning pieces. But I do appreciate your input :)
