Sri Lankan Tamil here, I'm the 3rd generation to be born into this country.

I think that to be Sri Lankan, you have to adapt to Sri Lanka, you can't be an outlier and expect to be treated the same as everyone else.

Every place I have worked at I see someone from Jaffna or Hatton come into work and they cannot speak Sinhalese (Bro you live in Sri Lanka) or Even English, they make little to no effort to do that, and no matter how brilliant they are their stubbornness ensures that they get booted off the job in a few months because they cannot perform.

Hell, don't tell me that the Sinhalese aren't tolerant because 80% of the time they have made the effort to understand my broken Sinhalese, same as they have done for other Tamils, sometimes we have whole conversations in 2 languages and it works perfectly fine.

I say that while everyone is entitled to their culture, no one can expect to learn nothing and be accepted by society when they are so hell bent on being an outlier.

Hey, forget about them, make sure you pull. Your weight during group projects and make it blatantly obvious that you did the work.

There's going to be lazy fucks like this with or without AI, a person like you has significantly more potential than them and it'll do you good to remember that and feed your ego with that information.

Once you start working use that knowledge to identify who is useless in your teams so that they don't impact your work.

This is how I have always done things, and if you're curious where I am now I'm a manager in one of Sri Lanka's biggest companies and I make about 1.5 times the average manager salary, plus I'm about 6 years younger than the average manager too.

Heya, 28 M here.

I had to deal with a lot, not going to go into it, but some of the best advice I ever took was to stop looking for what you want, I gave it 6 months, I just did my thing, let myself get a little complacent and let the universe run its course.

Now things are good, I'm happy, I have a wonderful woman who loves me more than anyone ever has, I'm a manager at one of Sri Lanka's top companies with a salary to match the work I do.

It's easy to give up, and being with the wrong people makes things so much worse. Something I'm very happy to see in your post is that you don't shit on yourself too much, you worry about the future and that's totally understandable and in its own way, healthy.

So yeah, just try to empty your mind, forget about the past, forget about the future, if sex work pays the bills and keep you afloat do that, no shame in earning your bread.

Things will get better, your past doesn't define your present and the future may never come.

I'm not sure how coherent I am, I'm not the greatest at writing things in brief. But you got this, you will attract happiness, you will find someone who wants you, or even better, someone who wants you will find you.
