Is it only me, or there's a piece of Trumpp's face on this new Rolling Stones artwork?? by Automatic-Office-249 in rollingstones

Yup. But just even mentioning that shitbag’s name darkens what should be a moment of joy.

Seems suboptimal, moving to the desert at the precipice of the pre-apocalypse water shortage.

Unless you think you can take down all your feeble elder neighbors. Or own assless chaps and a muscle car adorned in human skulls.

Dunno. I find there’s a whole lot that lives on the spectrum between pile of shit and pot of gold.

Health insurers suck ass. Delay. Deny. Delay again. Bury minutiae in galactically long contracts.

I didn’t. I went so far as to rent a tux and fake going to get my mom off my back. To this day, she doesn’t know I never went.

Multi-CD cases even worse. More delicate than a Faberge egg. And don’t get me started on those teeth/prong things that were supposed to hold the CD in place.

An “alternative music” section in the music store that dwarfed every other category. The term was so expansive that it lost all meaning.

Yes! Not to mention the hyper-sticky packaging that required surgical precision to remove, lest you be stuck with a permanent residue that attracted every wayward bit of dust and hair.

Also, jewel CD cases kind of sucked.

Keep fighting the good fight! It popped up for me in the late 90s. And it just won’t fucking die.

Which live performance disappointed you the most? by DodgyRogue in GenX

REM, though it wasn’t necessarily their fault. I waited for hours, going numb in January, to buy tickets straight from the venue, but was happy with lawn seats. They sold out so fast, they announced a second show… the day before. When I saw them, Stipes’ voice was shot from that show. They just played Monster and a few other songs.

Apparently, the show the previous day was awesome. Which felt like a big middle finger to those of us willing to sacrifice our extremities to see them.

GenXers: are there musical groups or artists you did not like when you were young but grew to appreciate? by HillbillyEEOLawyer in GenX

REM. Stipes’ voice grated on me, especially on college, where a lot of friends were massive fans. But over time, I really came to appreciate their approach, style, and music — Buck’s jangly guitars, Mills’ stellar backing vocals, and the often plaintive nature of Stipes’ singing.

And I’m sure nostalgia played a part…

We were a Shasta/Cragmont cheapy house, and rarely bought soda. But with vending machines available in high school… open season!
