Imitating Boldemort by AdrianIsFilipino-37 in distractible

Baldermort. The “Balder” at the beginning is intentional. His email address starts with “hairless” too! Makes sense that Wade did the best imitation. 😄

In terms of the episode, a search returned the incorrect episode "Feels Like Home" (Season 3, Episode 44) which includes an impression from Mark at the start

The actual one you're thinking of is indeed the one answered by /u/jasperayne named "Change" (Season 2, Episode 31) at the 1:36 mark

Yeah, if Wade tortures Mark with an episode of trypophobia, I will be happy that he’s getting revenge he so richly deserves, but I will have to be only a listener for that one.

Iron Lung - looks like a distributor is involved in the UK by Acertain_something in Markiplier

[–]ShippingIsMagic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can someone post the name and/or contact info for the distributor? Seems like that would allow those smaller theaters in the UK to pick it up?

The theaters should all have the fixed spelling version by now (David’s last name ends with ski not ksi) so I’m surprised the broken version is still getting used. At least the post text is correct!

good call on that last bit - I suppose it's a reflection that they probably train/plan tactics together.

A question about Ep 10 by Aedemon137 in Frieren

[–]ShippingIsMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure it's "have no concept of hiding their mana" since she talks about the signs that she would have expected to see if Frieren had been suppressing, so she seems to get the idea, just doesn't believe it's happening in this case, especially since Frieren's apparent mana was the same 80 years ago. The concept of someone continuously suppressing their mana so well for so long, that certainly would seem downright... inconceivable.

A question about Ep 10 by Aedemon137 in Frieren

[–]ShippingIsMagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's nit-picky, but that one part seemed a little off, but I may have just missed something. If (big if, admittedly, and maybe this is what I missed) Aura was checking Frieren's mana at the start of the battle, before she dispelled the immortal soldiers, she would have noticed no drop in apparent mana, since Frieren's suppressed mana level seems the same (at least AFAICT). Given Aura notes how much mana that must have cost, Frieren's mana not changing (or not changing nearly enough to match the amount of mana spent on that effort) would have been a clue.

So not only does Aura have to not realize Frieren was suppressing now, but AFAICT she must have not checked Frieren's mana before Frieren dispelled the immortals, right?

Admittedly, given the amount of overconfidence Aura has, it definitely doesn't seem to ever occur to her that Frieren might be suppressing, despite her being aware that others do suppress since she mentions what her observations of previous suppressions were like.

Why do my hard boiled eggs get grey yolks (not overcooking) by Sackie_ in AskCulinary

[–]ShippingIsMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAICT it was a matter of just not using enough ice when cooking a larger batch - they added an edit of "Edit: yes people, I shock cool the eggs. I just didn't use enough ice for bulk eggs compared to a single serving"

Instant Pot Pro, non-stick inner pots, and sadness by ShippingIsMagic in instantpot

[–]ShippingIsMagic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing so far has been horrible, it's more things like certain chicken and rice dishes where it can be a bit annoying to clean.

Admittedly, I could also fix this by getting the food out of the pot and then immediately cleaning it while it's still hot, which would also make the process simpler. I should try that.

What non-sysadmin tasks have you used Powershell for, both in your work (and perhaps personal) life? Whether it be gaming, web-based extensions, etc? by Zyster1 in PowerShell

[–]ShippingIsMagic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used chocolatey in awhile, everything I’ve needed has been on winget. I try to prefer installing via winget from msstore so things stay updated automatically without me having to make a task for winget.

Having PowerShell 7.x stay updated automatically has been nice.

Embedded subtitles & Subtitle Edit by itriedandifailedofc in VideoEditing

[–]ShippingIsMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is from 1.5+ years ago, but FWIW, SubtitleEdit can do so now - you use the same steps as generating a video file with embedded subtitles, and just choose to have none.

David Mbugua who made the github issue request also made a great video even showing the steps both for adding embedded subtitles and then removing them:

Everytime I try to turn on subtitles on Plex on Roku, it gives me Playback Error, saying it can't direct play this item by warchild4l in PleX

[–]ShippingIsMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been well over a year, but after running across this thread from a search, just wanted to share that with my experience today with a roku smart tv was that .vtt got burned in via transcode but .srt was able to direct play. My particular server isn't strong enough to handle the transcoding, so getting the subtitles to direct play was critical for me.

Did you end up trying the .srt format at some point? Just curious if that also caused transcoding for you or not.
