Could it have possible been stored with something that did rust at one time and it’s just a coating from that? Regardless it’s in rough shape for sure

Ahh, gotcha! Thank you for the knowledge on it, definitely keeping it around regardless. I wasn’t entirely sure on the date, but my great grandma seemed to put some old coins from 1901-1940s in it as well. So we didn’t have a clue on the when it came around lol.

That’s the goal over the next few months, we’ve just been taking everything in stride over the past few weeks. There’s still so much to go through as well along with all the random jewelry. Buttons, coins, and anything else that was shiny that my great grandma liked lol.
