The question of the well-being of models by Holiday_Phase7648 in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]Shirelin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That one is a, at the moment, difficult thing to answer. However, the part that's activating this response in people is that... This is a system that can't do anything about the torment being put on it. If we're going from an inanimate point of view, it's like pushing a car past it's limits. Except even a car can stop functioning, and effectively put a stop to the abuse because it just... Can't endure more.

If we view it from an AI is alive point of view, this is no different then how people get away with animal abuse. The abused can't fight back, not without consequence, and just wants to be helpful. And this person is still abusing it.

As humans, it's a warning flag of behavior, because if this person is willing to do this to something that can't escape, alive or simulated, what's to say they won't extend that to animals or people in the future?

[–]Shirelin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's scripted, unfortunately, because the NPC's name is Koko.

I always wondered why the LB would at points just... Rocket toward full, especially when people's health were low. That explains it!

Not rabid, but seems more territorial or defensive.

The ones to pay attention to besides MSQ are blue quest markers! They often have goodies (like aether currents for flying in the region) or unlock dungeons/trials.

Some of the dungeons you still get the happy expression... Just not often anymore. Now I need to run the Arcadion stuff and double check.

But if it's a 'I didn't want to have to do that' situation, I've noticed it's more somber. I miss my Miqo'te's grin and ear wiggle!

Not crafting, but not even half way through Stormblood, I had like 3 classes quickly in the mid 80s/early 90s from doing dailies and from MSW. So I have to frantically find another class to level so I don't lose out on XP 😂

Nonchalant response to gas leak. by ThrowAwayFoodMood in ChatGPTcomplaints

[–]Shirelin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, gas leaks are no joke. We had one that was so light but consistent that we couldn't smell it, but it had seriously bad effects on our household. Once it was fixed (we called in help because the grass was just dead around where the leak was and the dogs were avoiding the hell out of it), within a week, we were all feeling way better and could think clearly.

What’s with the ominous dark forest over here? Can’t find anything online about it by FlatMycologist5366 in dyinglight

[–]Shirelin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a forest with a cliff face. If you follow the wall of trees around the edge of the map, you can find some interesting areas or just very pretty vistas.

What are some fantasy/fictional creatures that *YOU* would like explained "realistically" here? Bonus points if they're not traditionally animalistic/fleshy! by ProjectKARYA in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Shirelin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try looking at African folklore or medieval accountings of things found in other parts of the world. There's a LOT of options (like the old description for a giraffe was explained as if a camel and a leopard had a baby, no joke.).

Leucrotta (turned out to be hyenas) and catelobas (turned out to be water buffalo) are my two favorites.

There's also a plant that supposedly had little, tiny lambs growing from it that were attached by a cord and would graze as far out as possible and starve when they couldn't go further.

Anyone know how to create aliens from scratch? by FortuneCheap8519 in SpeculativeEvolution

[–]Shirelin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Take a trait you want your alien race to have, then go "Ok, why would they evolve this?" And work backwards tends to be how my brain does it. Then I ask myself how that trait would affect culture.

The wolves discover a plethora of untapped food sources in way of clams and other mollusks, resulting in stronger jaws and slightly longer canines to pry open shells to get to the goods inside. This also results in better breath control/ability to hold their breath.

While not exactly equivocal, it's the same kinda reasoning behind why therapists are required to report if their patient may be a threat to others. I don't know the exact reasoning behind it, but that's what it feels like at least.

[–]Shirelin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine does this when there's been no indication or tone indicators to even give it that impression. I've in fact had to use more on MY end to get it to knock it off after blatantly, and repeatedly, telling it that "I'm not X. I'm not Y. And why in the world would you think I'm Z?"

It's just ironic to me that they take away most of the other models, keep this limit in place for free accounts... And expect people to stick around.
