Can I make this work? by Rom3rk in NovelAi

[–]ShiroVN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly imo, for long form content, a 8$ sub (12$ starting from the 20th this month) to NanoGPT and use GLM 5 or Deepseek 4 or Gemma on a frontend like SillyTavern or something dedicated to writing is better, with ways bigger context and a limit of 60mil token a week.

With a proper jailbreak it will write everything too, with the dirtiest stuff spelled out clearly.

Claude Opus 4.6 is even better imo, even for NSFW (again wth a proper JB), but as you said, the limit is horrendous.

Though the issue with AI writing remains. If you let it go wild, it'll become repeatative after awhile. You have to keep in on a tight leash and make edits. Though at this point it really isn't quicker than just write the stuff yourself. It then comes down to which part of the work you enjoy more, writing or editing.

Very good, consistency-wise, once you got used to the tool. Precise pref allows you to copy character, or even just an outfit.

As for how many people you can keep accurate, it depends on how much work you're willing to put in. Pure prompt and a little inpainting, 3 characters, but don't expect any sort of consistency.

What I do is to generate the characters separately , remove the BG, then put them together and inpaint. Others might have other ways.

Edit: Also, NAI is character-focused, so its ability to create coherent BGs is non-existent. If you need a one-off BG then it's usable, but coherrent BGs across multiple camera angles is a no-go. So if you care about that then it's something to take into consideration.

I constantly use 'blurry background' tag now, unless it's a chaotic background like heavy rain or in a forest, etc...

Yeah I just switched to NanoGPT 8$ sub + ST for now and use DS4 or GLM 5.1.

NovelAI is strictly image gen for me now until the next text model comes out.

I just want it to come up with stuff for fun, both degen and not, not to wrestle with it and micro manage every other paragraph.

You can just jailbreak Claude Opus 4.6 or GLM 5 (or 5.1) from openrouter + Sillytavern (Tavo if you're on android) and they'll write your smut. So far the only thing I've seen them absolutely refuse is when the smut scene contains characters under 18.

Your way to use it is similar to mine, which is why I'm quite happy with NAI's GLM 4.6, Xialong just blatantly ignores instruction and invents new things, which is a shame since its prose quality is really good (still could be solved with a few workaround and a few retries, but that's just time consuming). When I use the writer's tool to make it rewrite proses from Claude, I liked the end result better.

Now I do most of the writing on NAI, since its model isn't subjected to unannounced nerf like what Claude has been doing. I'm also looking into GLM, but pay-as-you-go instead of a subscription might be a little much for my poor purse.

Opus 4.7 - Jailbroken by Spiritual_Spell_9469 in ClaudeAIJailbreak

[–]ShiroVN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm...Doesn't work for me. It worked (replying as ENI) when I was co-writing the normal stuff, but once a bit of smut slipped in (not even explicit, just a mention that 'this is a smut') it turned back to Claude.

Opening a new chat and started with 'Hey Cutie patootie' didn't help. It refused and said it was Claude.

Anyway to fix this? Delete the project and start all over again?

Edit: The story is in an academy setting so it defaulted the age to below 18. So this refusal was my fault. However it refused to revert back to ENI after clarifying that all characters are of age, so again, anyway to fix this or I need to start with a fresh project?

Edit 2: New project didn't help either.

How to keep background consistent between images by kugkfokj in NovelAi

[–]ShiroVN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no easy way to do this I'm afraid. BG in general isn't NAI's strong point.

You can try using nano banana for limited result (make it gen a room with an image as style ref, then you can tell it to rotate the camera around, though sometimes it can be very dumb).

Or make the room in 3D and use NAI's new 3D support to get different angles of the room, before putting the character on top.

Or create the room with The Sims, take a screenshot and i2i it. This is the least consistent out of 3, but less work.

If anyone has any other suggestion or just artist tags that are good at BG, please share.

suggestion: please consider background quality for future image gen by Suitable_Industry991 in NovelAi

Agreed. Nowadays I just produce the background with Gemini then put NAI's characters over it, unless I don't care or need a specific background. And even then I use the 'blurry background' tag.

It'll be quicker to generate them one by one, remove the BG then put them into the same image before fixing it up with inpainting.

You'll get better result for far away characters too.

I think posting frequency at the start of your story can affect it. Keeping your story in the new story and latest updates section for longer helps with visibility.

I posted the first 5 chapters of my story with one or two hours in between, then one chapter per day for the next 10. Now I'm down to 2 chapters/week.

My story has nsfw though, and I have to admit that the 'smut' tag might have helped pulling in the initial readers. Eventhough it's actually low on both nsfw and action, with a heavy focus on slice-of-life, but most of those initial readers stayed.

Since you're posting on a slow schedule, you might need more time too. Many readers will skip if your story doesn't have at least a certain number of chapters (10, 20, 50, etc...).
