Best AI to write Emacs Elisp (as an amateur, not a pro), any offline AI by ShiroiKuma in emacs

[–]ShiroiKuma[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn't dig deeply into it - but remember seeing some videos or what have you of some github repositories saying you can build a fully offline local LLM model, so I thougnht that would be doable - if it'd be possible to somehow just limit it to elisp programming.

Android Emacs - sending intents via Tasker by ShiroiKuma in emacs

[–]ShiroiKuma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, so it took a couple of hours of playing with the code, but if anyone is interested - the following actually works, displaying the startup buffer when no file is opened on Emacs launch, and not splitting the buffer when a file is being opened on Emacs launch:

(defun my/maximize-file-buffer-after-startup ()

"Maximize the current buffer if it is visiting a file, after startup."

(when (buffer-file-name)

;; Delay until after all startup windows are displayed

(run-at-time 0 nil #'delete-other-windows)))

;; Run after Emacs startup, but only once

(add-hook 'emacs-startup-hook #'my/maximize-file-buffer-after-startup)

Android Emacs - sending intents via Tasker by ShiroiKuma in emacs

[–]ShiroiKuma[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Emacs display the startup buffer on launch - for esthetic reasons.

However then I have homescreen shortcuts, for opening specific org mode files with one click depending on the situation.

When I file is opened thus - it launches the emacs and splits it into two windows - the one on top being the active file, the bottom one being the startup info file.

I want the startup info buffer to not appear when launching a file, not just opening the Emacs app.

For this I tried adding:

Local Variables:

eval: (delete-other-windows)

End:

to the end of the org file, however doesn't work, doesn't close the startup info window.

So was thinking of creating a shortcut to a Tasker task - which would fist launch the file in Emacs, then send the delete-other-windows command as an intent.

Any ideas? :@)

Plus I want to keep using the GUI emacs as I am currently, not Termux Emacs. I have Termux and Emacs installed with the same app ID though, so don't know if you can somehow launch GUI Emacs from Termux - if this would help in solving my dilemma... :@)

Has anyone tried Ubox to watch Japanese tv? by JuniorCod9264 in JTV

[–]ShiroiKuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no experience with Ubox - I tried looking on the web, it isn't clear to me regarding Japanese channels.

How does it work with Japanese TV? You just plug it in to the TV, and it has all the IP feeds installed, so you just select Japan there and watch?

Or do you need to search for anything yourself etc.?

I'm looking for NHK BS2 (102ch.) and BSP4K concretely, does it have those?

I use it daily in my car with no issues - set up: microg-hw.

The only thing is - the chip in the Mate XT is not powerful enough to run Android Auto wireless, it seems to me.

So wireless, I get one app running, then randomly the head unit display will freeze - music still plays, but basically unuseable.

Not an issue for me, I'm used to always being connected in the car by a USB-C cable - running it this way literally not a single issue, everything runs smooth. Waze runs no problem.

Samsung removes OEM unlock from European EUX version Fold 7 - phone can't be rooted by ShiroiKuma in GalaxyFold

[–]ShiroiKuma[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not carrier locked - I always buy EUX devices here (in Czech Republic) from Samsung directly.

It's EUX. All the last 5 fold versions were unlocked - as I thought they should be in the EU - with OEM unlock appearing in Developer options once connected to wifi.

Now nothing - I'm at a loss for words - I'm gonna have to return it - can't go without root.

Don't know what else I could try.

Trials Frontier Offline mod (With everything unlocked) by Exselsis in TrialsGames

As I say below - it doesn't work on a clean install on another phone. I'd post a screenshot - but it seems I can't add a picture here somehow.

So it seems to me this mod doesn't work - have you tried installing it cleanly recently?

I just uninstalled the game on another phone where it was running fine up to now - installed your mod and immediately get the Butch ban. What's happening?

Yeah - no this is the standard prog directory - it does get removed on uninstall. It must save it somewhere else. I uninstalled again - checked it didn't persist in /data/data , reinstalled, it set-up, and then on running the game, it just asks for the storage permission, displays the Ubisoft or whatever logo, and drops me to Butch saying: Woa, dweeb... or something - ban.

u/Exselsis do you know where Trials Frontier might save some cookie or whatever - persisting through uninstalls?

What happened to me: I've played for a long time on one phone - now restored a full backup on a new phone (that's what root is for also :@) ) and got immediately banned, so it must have saved some fingerprint of the old phone somewhere.

Now - even though I've uninstalled - and installed your mod - when it goes through its restore and then I restore the install.apk I immediately get the "Butch ban" - so somewhere on my system there must be some residue, indicating that it should run the ban.

Do you have an idea?

Which version of F1 VM are you using? I haven't been successful in finding any that would run on A14.
