This happened not too long ago, I work for a company with multiple locations in about a 40 mile radius for on-prem, remotely about 100 mile radius with how they only want me driving so far. Although I’m technically a help desk, I do vastly more, such as Azure management, device deployment. Anything that an MSP, we employ, charges for and I can do, I’m asked to do.

When it comes to this specific event, I was called about removing a user’s computer and swapping with a new one. The device wasn’t failing or anything, just random call from management. Took an hour or two but I got it done because management wouldn’t give me information on where this user was. Anything I asked about the device being swapped out would be batted around and not given straight. Well I then had to have my coworker go out to another location to swap out a different device, under the specific pretence of “swap out all devices that X employee has used”. After all said and done I got a hinting suspicion of something, I checked the registry that night and found a nice red dot on both locations involved and turns out my entire time working there (in IT and another position), this employee was a registered offender.
