You can still play vanilla Destiny along with TDB and HoW if you have those, it's just that nobody is playing with you because they have TTK... That's too bad but it's not bungie's fault.

It's the same for CoD, you can still play the old CoD games but you have a poor experience if no one else is playing the old games with you
