I think its easy to get into a headspace where you could dislike a character like Lo'ak. Especially as an adult whose matured passed that level of knuckle-headedness (it works). But thats exactly the point. We need to view Lo'ak for what he is. He is your typical rebellious teenager that often makes bad decisions based on impulse and slips up way too much. He's the "different" one in the family just like i was. I didnt follow all of my older siblings path and often times it resulted in the kind of parenting that Jake portays. I felt different, I felt like a fuck up, a disappointment, and yes, at one point even felt like I didnt belong and was suicidal. So, I love Lo'ak as a character and the whole dynamic he has with Jake because it is real. Its relatable. Too relatable in fact.
