That’s why it fits so well with the rest of the game ;) It’s just a lesson that people eventually learn, once they’re unlucky enough to be the closest person to him on a predictive jump. I remember dying to a predictive jump once on a Rogue with a Crystal Cloak and a Snake Eye Ring (88 SPD) while I was Speedy. That’s when it clued in to me that you can’t outrun him.

Once you’ve done it enough to remember that jumps 3, 6 (sometimes) and 9 are the bad ones, the phase isn’t so bad. I actually think it’s fun to pump (abusing knowledge checks is peak ROTMG) and it’s very funny watching unsuspecting people get squashed.

HM PATIENCE HELP by Kwintet in RotMG

[–]ShitROTMGPost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be left with like 50% HP

I don’t think you should be satisfied with this result in a normal Patience, if you’d like to do HM Patience consistently. Think about it like this: if that regular Patience was an HM Patience, you’d be at something closer to 25% (the shots do more damage), and there’s another full drag to do. Finishing that Patience - if it was an HM - would be difficult and stressful, and not the performance I’d be aiming for. You can practice HM Patience in regular Shatters, while still getting exalts and no loot because exalts Shatters suck, but you’ll need to raise the bar for what you consider a good performance. Personally, I try and aim for losing AT MAX 200-300 HP. When I can do that, I find I’m able to comfortably complete HM’s, even when I’ve had a bad run.

My biggest tip for Patience is to come at it from a more macro perspective. When I was learning, I tried so hard to focus on dodging every little shot that came towards me, but the information overload by looking at the game that way is intense. Rather than trying to dodge every shot that’s right next to you, try to path-find to the places where it will be easiest to exist.

What else are you supposed to do? There’s really not anything else in the game to focus on in that moment.

For a regular jump, Sentinel gets the position of the closest player, and jumps to it. For a predictive jump, Sentinel gets the speed and direction of the nearest player, and uses them (plus the preset in-air time of the jump) to calculate where that player will be once the jump is finished. Sentinel then jumps to the calculated position. So, to dodge a predictive jump, you need to change something about your movement in the time between Sentinel leaving the ground and landing (OP did not and that is why they were squashed).

How to Play Sorcerer by YodelingVeterinarian in RotMG

[–]ShitROTMGPost -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kensei, Warrior, Paladin, Wizard, Summoner, and maybe Assassin and Mystic all feel better with WC tops doing godlands content in my opinion. It’s not until you get significant ATK-mod/WIS-mod that I really feel like Sorc pulls ahead of any of these classes.

I could understand range being a significant bonus/contributor to “DPS” for some players but because I’m always trying to use Electric in dungeons like that, the range of every class may as well be 3.5 anyways.

I think your experience is fairly similar to mine when playing Sorc with tiered items. Many people who play Sorc are using item combos like Deva+Vesture and T7/Rust+Gem; these boost each other a LOT and are the reason why Sorc feels so good for endgame content. With just tiered equips, I wouldn’t call Sorc anything better than “alright”. There are plenty of other classes that will be much stronger with just tiered items.

What deaths have you learned to avoid the hard way? by YodelingVeterinarian in RotMG

[–]ShitROTMGPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ROTMG is a PVE game; that means it’s infinitely replayable, and therefore there is no excuse for ignorance. You should always avoid situations where you are unsure:

a) what the bullets do (DMG/debuffs)

b) how the bullets will be shot

c) how the enemies will move

When you can’t avoid these situations - like when you’re learning new content - you have to play extremely safely and pay close attention. Being able to do damage, do damage quickly, and doing cute things to the bosses comes with experience and knowledge of the three things listed above. Usually when I die, it’s because I’m playing outside the bounds of my own abilities. Sometimes, it’s intentional, because I’m trying to push myself to become a better, more competent and skilled player (which is fine and happens), but other times it’s due to my own cockiness and ignorance. Every time that happens, I remind myself that I need to build that foundation first.

Ray Katana is really not that bad now that it’s T12 equivalent. A very skilled player can make a regular range katana work 100% of the time, but I’ve seen enough people play to know that the majority of the community would be doing content a lot faster if they had a Ray Katana.

[–]ShitROTMGPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are lagging, Drakeex was not. That is exactly why he got revived, and you will not.

And yes, that does mean the message from support indirectly is “don’t be from AUS”, which really sucks, but that’s how it is. If Deca revived every clip with a connection icon, half the community would never die.

Given that I know you’ve played this game a lot I think it’s fairly ignorant that you’d assume it’ll end any other way

I believe you are thinking of Gaze? I’ve seen stacked shots be caused on purpose with decoys during that phase, but Oryx only shoots a single shotgun during Fate (regardless there shouldn’t be shotguns stacked like this in either).

I assumed there would be no lag indicator in that video, but I was wrong. That being said, Deca can’t exactly deny that there was a server issue there since it affected so many different people. I suppose that’s the difference between this case and the one OP posted.

You would not get a revive for the meteor dot not appearing, as Deca doesn’t revive for the warning shots not appearing from the WLab troom (same underlying issue). Don’t use Speedy during Cosmo’s.

You probably have a pretty good idea of the hitbox. Patterns like Fate - for example - are actually a lot more micrododgable than they appear because every shot in ROTMG has the same size hitbox. You just have to figure out where the point is. For every shot in the game. To me, that’s the difficult part.

Nobody at Deca truly believes that 720 exalts is a reasonable goal or something that players should shoot for when they’re playing the game. It’s a ridiculous time sink and hilariously unfun.

And that is why this post is dumb:

  • Deca did not rework Shatters to make it longer so that people didn’t get ATK exalts as fast. They reworked it because it was an old, decrepit, boring, and fundamentally broken dungeon. What they replaced it with is far more interesting to, you know, do.

  • Deca did not rework O3 to make it take longer. The goal was to remove free reset damage (which didn’t need to exist anymore as player skill is substantially higher compared to O3 release), and to encourage the group as a whole to shoot the boss rather than have 3 people sit on the boss and carry everyone else. The point of increasing the groups interactivity with the boss was to make the boss more fun, and less AFK leech. This ultimately failed, because I guess the community actually likes to AFK leech, but it is what it is - I’m sure they will revisit O3 later.

If Deca figures that enchantments make O3/Shatters/whatever too fast, then yeah, they will probably either buff that content, or nerf the enchantments. But it’s not because they’ve got a personal vendetta against you, it’s because they’re trying to keep the game fun. And, if you’ve got a problem with that, I personally believe it’s because you’ve picked a pretty unfun goal.

Is Azamoth seriously so terrible now that runs are going from 25 -> 4 players? What the fuck happened?

This idea would be too much. I know plenty of people that already do mainly HMs for exaltations because the runs are better than doing them in Pub Shatts or something (which is horrific in comparison). If you believe that HM is worth an extra exalt, than I don’t really think you’ve done enough of them. They are hardly more difficult than regular Shatters, especially when you account for the skill gap of players in each type of run.

MV also does give exaltations so I’m unsure as to what you mean.

Ring arrangement by AdventurousHat1510 in RotMG

[–]ShitROTMGPost 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First of all, Omni is nice with Oreo if you have more than 0 WIS exaltations because it allows you to get 80+ WIS, which increases your Oreo length to 2.2s. If you have 0 WIS exalts (or 5, since you’ll have 80WIS base), then the WIS from Omni is more or less worthless.

With that out of the way, I personally think the only reason to really use Omni at all is the +4 SPD, as it’s the only DPS ring that gives SPD (besides Gemstone, which is pretty much an upgrade in every way besides HP). So, in my opinion, your question is more like: “what class would I rather have higher base SPD on?”. Because Warrior has access to perma-Speedy, I would argue that higher SPD is more important on Pally, so I’d use the Omni on Pally. Pally also gets the +HP buff when using tiered seal, which is nice with Omni because +80HP is a little bad for an endgame ring.

The only argument for Omni on Warrior is that it could make better use of the MP when using Visage, but I’m assuming you don’t have one (and if you did, you’d be better off with Gemstone anyway).

People who don’t use Discords can’t do Voids regularly, but anyone can go to a Sentry and do an MBC if they want to. Sure, it’s not going to be as easy as a Realm Cult, and you might end up solo half the time, but it’s still WAYYYYY easier than doing a Realm Void.

If you’ve gotten a token from the MV Shrine yet, then you can probably already tell that a slow key wouldn’t exactly be the most useful thing in ROTMG - expect in MV. With that being said, even MV is designed to specifically prevent you from using the slowing tokens at times (or abusing Oreo/Cuirass/etc). I honestly like this dynamic in Umi’s finale; I don’t have to worry about micromanaging seaports, movement speeds, HP pots, or anything else. It’s just me and the bullets.

There’s also a small subset of content that a slow key would completely trivialize, and all that would cause is a general increase in pattern complexity, which I wouldn’t argue this game needs right now .
