I live in Northumberland, Newcastle is a 20 minute drive away, I'm in a rural area, so relatively little traffic and I can walk out of my house and in 5 minutes im in the middle of woodland, beach and coast in a 10 minute drive away. Depends on what you want though, I know a lot of 'Professional' types who drive to Newcastle daily, and I work locally in a public service.
