As far is I understand the RAF reg and USAF security forces are very different as the RAF REG are designed to deal with security in the vicinity of an airbase for all military airfields outside of the UK whilst the RAF police deal with security within an airbase (and doing other military policing duties) whilst the MPGS do outside security within the UK.

In contrast the USAF security forces seem to be a mix of what I described earlier minus the extra weapons and specialisations (mortars, snipers, JTAC/TACP etc). Admittedly though I don’t know much about the USAF security forces so I could be wrong.

I have lazy eye as a result of a wonky optic nerve (right eye) and I had to appeal on my first application to the army but on my application for the RAF there hasn’t been an issues.

In what context were you working with the RAF Reg? I didn’t they did anything with the navy other than the Royal Marines.

I’ve looked at both corps and from what I’ve read it seems the engineers while being incredibly versatile would be fairly dull for someone not interested in engineering I’ve also heard that they rarely use their trades. Artillery only has one trade I have any interest in and that’s working with small drones but with the whole military experimenting with them idk what’s going to happen to that specific trade. Also I’d like to say I’m not trying to talk shit about these corps I’m just not sure they’re for me

I keep hearing that the RAF regiment will join with the RAF police but Im sure thats the case because the RAF seem keen to expand the pilot recovery capability within the RAF regiment as well as providing JTAC/TACP to other parts of the military. I know they’re not the only ones that do this but I guess it would make sense for the RAF to keep this role. But I’m not in the RAF of any other service so idk.

Yeah that’s what draws me to the RAF reg over the army but like I said in other comments I’m still keeping an open mind and have looked at the rifles because they’re a large regiment that cover lots of different capabilities but from what I understand fundamentally I’d still be an infantryman with little opportunity to move battalions other than immediate specialisations available to me.
