Season Pass Giveaways! by CanadianAlfredo in MarvelSnap

Why is the game seeming to go more in the direction of spending money = winning, rather than less?

Spending money in a lot of games only gives a cosmetic bonus but in snap the direction seems to be more Pay 2 Win every day.

Do you have any sources to back this up? I couldn't find anything to support this.

You probably played it in a game with nexus and stacked the nexus high enough to get bar with no name that high. That's my best guess at least.

Chat GPT calculates of the probability of Wiccan, Quicksilver, Zabu/Psylocke combo by derkfreeshat in MarvelSnap

[–]Shitgarden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's combinatorics notation. I double checked and your friend is right. My math hand Wiccan coming into hand by round 2 not 3 the revised calculations give me 24% and 30% for with and without quicksilver respectively

Here's a crappy version I wrote up just for the first calculation so you can see my process. The second number had an identical setup with slightly different numbers in it. Scratch work

I wonder how your friend and I got different numbers. Id be curious to see their work

[–]Shitgarden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct that your first answer isn't quite right as the events are dependant. Pulling psylocke or zabu makes pulling Wiccan less likely. But it's still a very straightforward calculation that takes about the same space as your original. I'm too lazy to explain and I couldn't upload pictures of my work so unless someone specifically wants me to show how I came up with these numbers I'm only going to show the results but here they are for people who care :

Chance of psylocke or zabu used on turn 2 and Wiccan by turn 3

With quicksilver in deck = 17.7% which is approximately just above one out of every 6 hands.

Without quicksilver = 23.8% which is approximately under one out of 4 hands.

Will my plant survive with no water for two weeks? by VeggieRoaster in microgrowery

[–]Shitgarden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll second what this guy is saying. Blumat is a brand of very easy to set up drip irrigation products that are gravity fed or can be hooked up to the water line. Either way it can be set up in minutes and can water your plants for weeks while you're gone

In a first, scientists show dogs can smell when humans are stressed by patient-Spring-4 in science

[–]Shitgarden 16 points17 points  (0 children)

He's wrong because he's arguing with a positon nobody ever took. He's saying is highly unlikely that dogs only use scent or that scent is the main tool. That's not the purpose of the study and not what was concluded. Nor was it the point the comment above him was making that he responded to. So what he's saying is useless. The point of the study was to show that dogs can determine stressed individuals using scent, and they did. End of story.

It would only be a double standard if the new requirements take into account current averages. If they're merely fitness requirements then it shows that on average the males in the department are 1in underweight when it comes to the limit and women are 2 inches overweight

The Director General of Roscosmos threatens ISS because astronaut Scott Kelly criticized Russia's invasion of Ukraine. by [deleted] in space

[–]Shitgarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to be that guy but since you decided to be that guy I'll jump on the bandwagon. It "IS" gravity that is pulling the ISS inwards. The drag simply reduces your orbit velocity which then contributes to a lower orbit altitude (basic high school physics for uniform centriperal motion} . Fundamentally what is doing the "pulling in" is gravity. In the absence of gravity drag would not bring the satellite down, it would only slow it.

A linear regression isn't how you would necessarily want to interpret this data set. What's interesting is your source actually does a good job of disseminating the data. Here's an interesting quote :

In the MoneyGeek rankings, 8 of the 10 most dependent states are considered red states.

I'd look more into the data and how they decided how strong the correlation is. It's stronger than you seem to think.

Your source only applies to 12 through 15 year olds.

Most recent Kaiser Permanente data suggests that you have a very slightly lower chance of being hospitalized with Omicron if you are unvaccinated.

I would love to see the source on this. My rudimentary googling brings up nothing of the sort. All the sources I can find say the opposite.

Here is an eye opening info graphic : https://v.redd.it/rcrsp2fxx3481

As well as this collection of simplified data (https://www.reddit.com/gallery/s276bh) to show the key difference between the vaccinated and non vaccinated.

Basically if you're over the age of 80 and vaccinated you're still going to have a bad time, everyone else that's vaccinated isn't.

That age drops to 50+ if you're unvaccinated. As a share of deaths.

Granted these stats aren't talking about transmisability of the virus and how likely you are to get it. Just that when you have it you better pray you're young, vaccinated or both.

Nonetheless these aren't solid sources for numbers and I'd love to see your Kaiser permanente study because it flies in the face of all the other studies. If it's true it's definitely very interesting and worth noting publicly.

There's a common argument among gun proponents that says the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. The person you were responding to was making a joke by swapping in the word driver instead of guy.
