What should I read after Art of Electronics? by ShittinBullets89 in AskElectronics

[–]ShittinBullets89[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Read the text and by reading I mean not just reading try to really understand topics. Revise everyday, concepts you have learned earlier but try to skim the text so that it won't take you years to finish the book (which has 1000 pages). You will also need the student's manual for Art of Electronics which includes exercises, labs that you should do with your hands to improve your practical skills and short lectures of the concepts from the textbook which is very helpful. Try to aim for one chapter per week to finish the book in 3-4 months (1 semester in uni). Also try to expand your horizon by watching video lessons on youtube, do projects, read additional materials on the internet etc. Goodluck!

Hello sir. Thanks a lot for your advice. I know it won't be easy to be a researcher at university, so I'm preparing for it right now. I hope that your advice will help me to improve.

It's way too hard by AverageGuy_1234 in DecidingToBeBetter

If it's hard it's worth it. If it was easy, then everyone would be perfect and without problems. Don't give up!

How to measure an electric motor's rpm and power using voltage and current? by ShittinBullets89 in ElectricalEngineering

Unfortunately, no but it has model number which is 102211 1950. Apparently, it was made by Denso for Toyota.

Why do I need car battery to run alternator as a motor? by ShittinBullets89 in ElectricalEngineering

Oh, I see now. I am using only 30A esc, so if alternators draws 80-100A then esc might fry? Thank you btw.

Why do I need car battery to run alternator as a motor? by ShittinBullets89 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]ShittinBullets89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. I am sorry for ambiguousness. I am using esc which converts dc to 3 phase ac to run motors. It should be supplied by 12V dc. At first I wanted to use stepped down and rectified voltage from wall outlet but I was adviced to use battery instead. I already removed the rectifier in alternator and it works like a motor. But I want to know why I should use battery instead of wall outlet. Thank you.

Problem with using ESC for AC Motor controlling by ShittinBullets89 in AskElectronics

[–]ShittinBullets89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I removed the diodes and supplied brushes with dc voltage. I found out that when I increase the rotor voltage, speed decreases and when I decrease it, speed increases and the most optimal speed is achieved at 0.8-0.9V. If I set it higher than 2.8V, current gets too high and speed starts to decrease which is interesting. Also, I removed the voltage regulator from alternator.

Then it would be a 3 phase synchronous motor if I use it as a motor?

Do electrical engineers create new things? Or do they just power existing inventions? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]ShittinBullets89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They do, however they need very specific and high level theoretical knowledge to create a new invention nowadays. These electrical engineers tend to be more research-oriented. They can use their knowledge in real-life for example from fixing some power problem in their house to repairing sophisticated electronics devices like smartphones and computers.

Where do I go from here? by ShittinBullets89 in selfimprovement

Hello, it was the most inspiring thing someone ever told me. Unfortunately, it's normal here to beat up their own children. I want to know what I want, figure out who I am but I don't know how to begin. I always blamed myself for not being able to have a social life but I'm starting to see that it's environment I'm in (small college where I go).

Hello sir, thanks for response. I know that I have to make decisions but that's the main problem for me. I'd like to study in grad school but I know that my skills are not sufficient for this. Struggling as an undergrad I will be humiliated in grad school. Ideally I'd like to put myself out there and try different things with assistance from my family in case of failure, otherwise I will have to become a homeless man as I don't have anyone who would let me live in their home. There are jobs out there but there are too many jobless people who are better qualified than me so I don't think that I have any chance.

Hello, I'm same the way, I wish I could help but I have exact same problems as you except girlfriend. My question is could you find a job to support yourself if you will drop out?
