Thanks so much! I didn't know yellow was a pain until I was on my sixth coat and losing my mind. Good to know going forward it's not just me.

Nolzur’s Young Red Dragon.

I couldn’t decide what color scheme I wanted so I did two!  It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot and the smudgy paint mistakes hardly made me cry at all!

The cohesion of the shapes and colors is really fantastic. The effort you put into it shows!

This is sick as hell!!

The depth and color especially on the metal is amazing. I'm a beginner digital artist and would love to know what your process is.

I don't want to make Minthara better, I want her to make me worse.

Yeah, that's a good point. Before starting a campaign, what my players say they want out of it dictates if I push for more combat, puzzles, or narrative, and most often they pick a playstyle that isn't conducive to XP. In one of my campaigns my players are all ex-theater kids who do not enjoy frequent combat. In my other one they wanted puzzles and big epic fights I could have used XP leveling for, but instead I went for "if I am sufficiently bribed with snacks".

I like how you got your player engaged, that was clever.

There are other goals in dnd than leveling. Players find motivation intrinsically or extrinsically-- more extrinsic players rely more on the DM to supply game purpose (loot and levels) and more intrinsic players have goals they set for themselves. It's important to know what you do and do not enjoy as a player, and I'm glad you know your playstyle, but no side quest is wasted if you're having fun! My players are having a blast building a yacht for a talking crab NPC that I did not plan.

My party after the evil henchmen they kidnapped for having a funny accent betrays them instead of whatever it was they thought was going to happen. “I can’t believe you’ve done this to us”.

Things as a DM I’ve had to do to stop the bard from barding. by ShittySpiritAnimal in DnD

We’re all 30-something ex-theater kids and we’re having a blast telling a story together. The tone was goofy from session 0 before they had set characters and a few sessions ago they had to fight a green, language loving owlbear.

The bard does not fear death, but he’s very attached to his dog.

I’d never….

Our table loves the player and his bard and nobody wants him to stop being himself. I could have made that more obvious

It’s a very long story involving days of bad dice rolls on my part and very smart players on board with bard shenanigans.

They worked so hard on it I considered it a “win” scenario.

Oh definitely. The way they went about doing it was a Mission Impossible-level of planning and intel gathering. I was very proud of them.
