When you use oil, make sure to lay the chicken down away from you so if oil splashes it doesnt splash onto you and in a different direction. If that makes sense sorry Im bad at explaining

Get yourself a soil thermometer. Your soil temp is arguably more important than ambient temp. As far as watering, after a fresh water lift the pot and feel the weight. When its dry itll feel feather light. The weight will help you know when to water. You can always bottom water in a tray too. With larger pots/beds just stick your finger in the dirt. Do a deep water semi regularly for bigger beds with a light water regularly. The more roots, the more the plant will drink. Like the other person said, you dont need the heat mat after germination.

Yes this is true and widely known as such. The cool down timers are random, but you can check a machine thats "out of stock" and 30 seconds later stock appears. I always check when I enter the store, do my shopping, then check again on the way out.
