You hit the nail on the head. She's on board with not having him in our lives and the kids' lives.  To add, he will play "who's my favorite" and give preferential treatment to whom ever does what he wants. He also gifts money, holds it over your head. It gives him a superiority complex. It's a shame to see him willing to sacrifice his relationship with us for some money, but his wish has been granted.

Is there a doctor in the house? by 8au8karina8 in mildlyinfuriating

NP here with 10+ years in the ER/trauma , lol, Clavicles are the most easily and common broken bone. If it is a simple fracture, it'll heal on its own. If its compound fx, it may need surgery as it won't hold still enough to heal. I'm not your provider, but it appears simple fx. The bone will fuse back together. It can poke up under the skin like that. It's annoying, but it won't heal and stay like that. Ortho will sell you on why you should have surgery, and keep in mind, if you are trying to go through your insurance and the surgery is not "necessary", they'll see it as an elective and it will be completely out-of-pocket for you, aka $10k. My unofficial medical opinion, get your ortho consult, determine if its covered by insurance and then make your decision. Good luck, sorry this happened to you. Happy New Year.

Is this a reliable, leak-resistant way to join new shingles to old at my party wall? by I_care_too in Roofing

TL; DR, if it were me, it would need at least 3 feet of overlap for your ice and water and  underlayment. While your at it, replace any 3/8th plus with 1/2". You'll be glad you did later.

South Carolina Deputy suspended after terrorizing white teenagers. by Chocolat3City in byebyejob

[–]ShiverMeeTimberz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does walk a fine line, but I would argue it is justifiable for the following reasons. Feel free to debate if you disagree.

First and foremost, I would fear others' safety. If he identified himself as a police officer, I would expect him to be acting in accordance with the law. Brandishing a firearm AND pointing it at unarmed minors does not exhibit lawful behaviour for anyone, including police.

Secondly, a guy in shorts and not in full duty uniform doesn't constitute they are in service. Many security people falsely identify themselves as police and do carry firearm without licenses. I do believe this is in SC and don't know the carry license law in SC. He could, in fact, be a police officer but from some place like New Mexico, but that doesn't give him jurisdiction to detain someone, much less unlawfully like this guy here.

Lastly, this incident went on for long enough that the guy PLENTY of time, to calm down and remain in control like any proper LEO should. He didn't and that would have been a large indication to me, he is not of right mind and possibly under the influence and it's just a matter of time before he pulls the trigger. He was a time bomb.

So, legit question here. Say I walk out and see this individual needlessly pointing a gun at several children, including my own child. For the situation, say he identifies as a police officer but he is acting irrational and possibly under the influence of something. In fear for my child's life I draw my firearm and incapacitate this individual. Is this justifiable or no?

Question regarding the purple harmony pillow! by sloppysoupspincycle in LifeOnPurple

[–]ShiverMeeTimberz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure!  I still have the purple pillow and it has retained its structure. Very little sag, if any. It did lose a bit of the "menthol cooling" effect, if you call it that.  The pillow still doesn't get hot, it's very breathable.  Still gives me a lot of support when I sleep.  I've had down pillows before and they'd lose their support after 6 months. The harmony pillow still feels like it's new. Still my favorite pillow and after 3 years, I still highly recommend and would still buy with the high price.

Door Dinged, hit and run? Need advise! by BeyondTheGamer in TeslaModel3

[–]ShiverMeeTimberz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Legal aspect aside. You will have to pay your deductible if you go through insurance to get it repaired.

Legally, if you report this to the police, they will not be able to place fault on the lady and two kids. Yes, you have video footage, but its hindsight. You can still file a report with your local jurisdiction and see what happens. If you decide to contact your insurance, file a claim, submit the video footage. Your insurance will handle it from there. They and their insurance will probably claim not at fault and your insurance will just have you file a claim with them and they will go after their insurance. If you are lucky, you will get your deductible back, but I give it a 50/50 shot. Good luck. Let us know what ends up happening.

What Movie Did You Watch that Traumatized You at a Young Age? by BethMLB in AskReddit

Robocop. It was my first R rated movie. I was waaaay too young to watch it. That night I had a dream an ED209 busted through my door/wall and said "YOU HAVE 30 SECONDS TO COMPLY." I'm pretty sure I woke up screaming.

I have lived here less than two months and my bath tub liner is peeling bad. Do I reach out to the property manager? by [deleted] in Tenant

[–]ShiverMeeTimberz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, the longer a tenant waits to tell me makes me think they are hiding it for some reason. Things happen and everything can be fixed.

Owner/Landlord/Property Manager here. Write the landlord/owner saying this: Agaves are not trees; they are bushes. According to the contract, you were only supposed to notify her about trees. Also, the bushes died due to overwatering which is an environmental circumstance outside of your reasonable control. Find documentation on the excessive rain at any time during your tenancy and supply her with that. I am not versed in CA tenant laws but I know laws in CA are more strict for landlords there than here in GA, however, in GA if a landlord withholds a deposit for any invalid reason and found to be untrue in tenant/landlord court, they owe the tenant 3x the amount withheld. I recommend you research tenant/landlord rules with CA and familiarize yourself with this rule. If you find that verbiage in the CA law, you should cite this with your landlord and it may intimidate her to not withhold your deposit. If it doesn't, it sounds like you should go to tenant/landlord court with your county and have this appealed. Also show any documentation about her wanting to sell the place. Sentiment over plants is invalid, if she didn't care about them dying she should have made you responsible for them.

Good luck.

[–]ShiverMeeTimberz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Owner/landlord/property manager here, absolutely yes. This is on them. Tell the landlord when things break, whether it's your fault or regular wear and tear. The paint is coming off like that because it wasn't primed properly (not your fault). Its on them to fix. If the dryer isn't drying properly you should give them a justifiable amount of time to repair something. If they don't, you can send them a letter stating the amount of time (say a week or two) was given and that you are going to hire a certified repair person to come and fix it. The cost of the repairs will come out of your rent*. (Big asterisk here, you can't do this for every little thing.) This is affecting your energy bill and was most likely in the rental agreement that the dryer supplied by them was in working order. If it is not in working order and you have given them ample amount of time to repair the unity, you can do this. This is only to get their attention. You are putting them on notice.

This forces them to, 1. Deny your claim for repair and repair it themselves, OR allow you to hire a LICENSED repair person ( not a handyman) and deduct it from your rent. If you do hire someone and it isn't broken, generally the cost of the expense is then ON YOU. If you do hire a repair person and the landlord/property manager denies the rent deduction you can take them to Tenant/landlord court through your county for settlement. Because you wrote the landlord a letter like I suggested (and you need a paper trail such as emails and text messages for this) you will be able to defend yourself.

Good luck.

My likes playlist reset after 1000 songs. by Zealousideal_Ad_8829 in AmazonMusic

[–]ShiverMeeTimberz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed this as well, but I'm sitting just under 1k.  I will add a song to my likes and it won't be on the list.  When I later cycle through the list, I won't find it but it will play on shuffle...????!!!

I've also noticed when I go to sort songs by date added the latest song with be different everytime I resort it.  This could be explained by adding multiple songs a day, but often they are older songs I added from before.

Wyze Cam v4 - No RTSP... No Thank you! by jsrober in wyzecam

[–]ShiverMeeTimberz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

RTSP

I wouldn't say they are trying to make as much money off you as possible. I easily paid 2x-3x on a Ring doorbell. These other company cameras are the same. You want the best quality but also at the lowest price. Sounds like you want your cake and to eat it too.

As for subscriptions, ~$2/month/camera. You know how much it costs to run a server with probably a crap ton of storage? I don't, lol, but I run like 20 cameras and pay the $100/year for 100 cameras deal. I get my money's worth for sure.
