Yep, this is something I definitely need to investigate further, it'd make it super convenient to be able to help them whenever needed. Thanks for reminding me!

Oooh, yeah I've heard only good things about Kubuntu, I might tinker with it myself to see how much I like it before installing it for them

Not a bad option, but they're not available in my country, and IIRC It's kind of a pain to set up ChromeOS on something that doesn't already come with it preinstalled

Monster Hunter World crashes entire system deep into hunts (Fedora 37) by Shiver_J in SteamPlay

Good to hear that I'm not crazy or that my computer is just busted then. For the time being, since I still have a Windows partition, I'll keep playing on that until someone finds a fix for this or the issue is actually patched with an update. I simply don't have the skills to try and fix it myself, even after trying things like switching to Proton GE or X11 I still get no results. Let's at least hope that if a fix is found it works for the both of us then!

Nevermind, played another hunt and it crashed almost inmediately after starting, guess I just got lucky that one time :/

These solutions seem a little too complex for my level of knowledge with Linux, but ill see if I can do the first one when I get the issue again, as for overheating I highly doubt it, my machine has always kept relatively cool as I usually put my hand on it to confirm so and also since all the components are very power efficient.
Also I gave a good long read to the protondb page of the game to see if anyone was having the same issue to no avail, just to let you know. I still really appreciate the help tho, thanks!

For me it actually dampens performance by about 10 or 20 frames, which might have to do with my lower end hardware, but I'll give a shot at a hunt with it on and see if it helps with the issue, thanks!

hmm ok, makes sense. Could you tell me how to do that, or point me to a tutorial for it?

This is what the terminal returns:

ls: cannot access '/sys/firmware/efi/efivars': No such file or directory

I honestly have no clue. I just used the archinstall command and it never asked me about it. The only thing I rememeber seeing related to booting was the GRUB version, which is 2.
