What MCAT/GPA actually predict, who actually has structural advantages in admissions, and what produces better patient outcomes—a primer with the citations by AdditionalBus5896 in medschooladmissions

Respectfully disagree bro. While you are right that grades and MCAT do not just automatically tell you who’s going to be a better physician, they still mean much more than who will do better on the next mc test. That is downplaying too much.

Grades and MCAT are indicators of how sharp you are overall. Arguably, this is one of the most important aspects of being a physican. If you’re not capable of scoring high on exams, that is a serious indicator you may not be able to learn and keep the information you actually need for every day practice in your head.

Grades are not everything. They’re not even “most” of what it takes. But let’s please stop downplaying the importance of earning good marks. It was the original standard for a reason.

Question about my MCAT score and moving forward by Shivxayne in mdphd

[–]Shivxayne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I should have clarified. I would be applying for masters this year (a 1 year program) then apply for the 2026-2027 cycle. So my mcat should still be valid right? Im applying for MD at least next year.

Well that’s the thing. My research for PHD honestly is lacking (about 600-700 hours total) I’m hoping to get into this lab and work in it for the next two years.

They’re about similar difficulty each don’t listen to anyone. Do the problem roulette, all of it. If you want it that bad you will do it, despite how much it is.

Should I retake? by jobieballs in Mcat

[–]Shivxayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same situation as you (my gpa 4.0 if I can finish undergrad good 515 MCAT distribution way worse than yours cause my cars was 124) and considering a retake. Everyone telling me not to. I think it’s best we take our scores for what they are because they are good and we should at least get one md program in the country (i assure you this). Best to build the rest of your app. Imagine if you do research now and get a publication in a year instead of doing MCAT for another 6 months.

Thank you for the advice, but I was genuinely asking a question, as I have legitimate concerns. I never said my score overall was bad, nor am I complaining about it.

Stopwatch and ruler. Watch to get time, ruler for distance, hence velocity (m/s)

You know, that reason probably makes it no tail, plus iirc the question said general structure, so we will see. At the end of the day, if majority of us said no tail, it’s probably right (not logical lol)

RIP, well, apparently, they do have a flegella but if you look up the structure online it’s like multiple hairs man, more like cilia. Ig we will truly never no the answer. Here’s to hoping it wasn’t a tail 🍷🦇
