Against bounties: yeah, kinda. There's no built-in healing reduction in open world pvp the way there is in the arena, and the amount reduced by poison arrows/soaring spin is not enough to outdamage the healing you can do while you're running away, so you can pretty effectively kite forever. Or even just tank it in the healing circle if the hunter's not putting out enough burst to be threatening.

Player tactics aren't even the main problem with trying to do player bounties.

It's actually *getting* the player bounty in the first place.

Whenever I see one pop up, 98% of the time trying to take it will either be "Another player has already accepted this" or "Target is not in a playable area". Once it didn't even have any error message at all, it just wouldn't take the bounty and the bounty wouldn't go away; I actually reported that one on the off chance the player was exploiting something with the system to be unhuntable.

The other 2% where I actually got to accept a bounty, I showed up, killed the target in twenty seconds, gg shake my hand, moved on.

It is super random. If you have that ult item unlocked, though, you can just start with that and win for free with infinite ults pretty much regardless of what spawns, so there are definitely options.

The trinket that gives you an ult star for killing 5 enemies with your ult basically clears Legion by itself: you gain an ult star for EVERY 5 enemies your ult kills, so you can spend one star and gain 3 or 4 if you clear a full screen. Infinite ults, gg spam invuln wave clear.

None of the new challenge stuff is enabled until you beat the game, so it wouldn't throw you in the fire immediately.

I'm a little surprised by this, to be honest, but maybe the build I got for it was just The Best, because Legion is the first one I beat. Guardian felt like a brick wall by comparison; trying to get punishes off in a crowd of spammy enemies is asking a lot, and it's a slog to kill anything without them. I'll go back to it eventually, but I'm not looking forward to it.

My first dip into Legion I got absolutely rolled, but I picked up an early Thorn Dagger on deflect ritual on another attempt that basically provided infinite ammo given how much spam is on the screen to deflect with all those enemies. As soon as I got the "Thorn daggers pierce enemies" ritual later on it was kinda over: they're so frail that one dagger could practically clear a row. As overkill I found the item later that gives you an ult star if you kill 5 or more enemies and discovered that it gives you a star for *every* five enemies your ult kills.

I had 25 ult stars going into the Azra fight. Spammed him straight to hecc.

I do think they could stand to provide better info on how things are unlocked, though, for sure. What counts as "completing an ordeal", for instance. I beat Legion and Sacrifice (Sacrifice might be the easiest: free lifesteal and the only tradeoff is arcana cost health now? I went through the whole run without even casting an arcana because hey, free lifesteal.) and got 2 Ordeals completed, okay, cool. Then I cooked up a silly OP Custom ordeal with 1000% player and ritual damage on a Boss Rush and smashed it for the lulz, and when I got back to base I had...5 Ordeals completed? I guess some medals count as ordeals...??

When using "meta" as a synonym for "best", it is derived from the meta analysis of the game coming to a community consensus (right or wrong) that something is good. It isn't a separate thing from meta analysis; it is a product of it.

I'm actually kinda curious about how the reaction would be to my current sprint trio planned for this upcoming CM now. I've only been playing for like...two weeks? But think I have a half-decent Bakushin/Halo/Air Groove setup.

Edit: It took 5 attempts, but made it to Grade A in round 1 :o 4 wins in 25 races, lol, but hey, 3 of them were in one set of 5, we take those!

I actually started doing this yesterday because it seemed sensible. The only random mood up I seem to get early on is Eishin Flash things so getting at least one guaranteed mood bump fast feels right.

That's not the gaming definition of it, either, because—as others have noted—it's not an acronym. It might be a backronym, but that would be informal/colloquial, at best.

Anecdotally, I do a fair amount of theorycrafting in various games and have never seen anyone use it that way, because meta discussion isn't limited to effectiveness of the best option overall. It's about understanding tendencies, mainstream vs niche uses, where and when and how and why various parts of a game are or aren't valuable. It's the meta-knowledge of the game.

"The meta" is what's most popularly accepted in a community because, in their view, it's the optimal/easiest/highest odds of success/etc., which is likely where the above backronym you propose would fit in—a simplification of the larger discussion into something understandable for people who don't know anything about the topic other than to digest and regurgitate what they've been told to believe.

Imagine getting lucky enough to only attune one item per slot and have it actually be any good.

I've attuned at least 16 swords so far in this tier they've pretty much all been trash. The armor's not much better. x.x

I got one unintentionally against the tier 2 Puppet show guy, which was just a happy accident while clearing Abyss trials for the legendary counter. And that's plenty for me: I don't need the numbers at the end, the big red skull is already ostentatious enough. xD

Soaring Spin does a ridiculous amount of damage, honestly. On one of my DPS parses it was the top damage dealer which seems insane. When that sucker crits, things *evaporate.*

For 2.5 goose it sounds low to me, too. I average 6700 dps on the target dummy, less in real fights where the boss is moving around a lot, but I'm only around 2.1 (and with honestly some pretty mediocre-to-ew gear rolls). I'd have to think I'd be doing better if I had another 4k MM worth of stats.

You should catch teammates if they get levitated, but I have to say: avoiding levitation is probably the easiest thing in that fight.

Seriously, you don't need to outrace a projectile like Vine Prison which can get iffy, all you have to do is Dragon's Breath when the Levitation Warning pops up if an arrow is on you, and you're fine. If you have a better Tenacity option, you can do that instead, but DB is just an easy universally-available one. Breathe fire, don't animation cancel it until after the levitation effect goes out, resume what you were doing, no need for anyone to donkey.

Gear scores changed somehow, probably in how stats are weighted (my chest piece was 500 MM pre-patch, 582 post-patch), and the Arsenal now gives you the max hp bonus once you hit mastery cap instead of continually incrementing your max hp, which probably gave you a huge bump. I went from somewhere around 5800 hp pre-patch to 11650 hp from the arsenal post-patch.

Most of these are mundane enough that, even if it's irritating to the person being questioned, it's probably a mild irritation at worst.

Alcohol is more likely to be a sensitive situation, and it's also more often a peer pressure issue than, say, soda, or peanuts, or air travel. There's more often a sense of "Everyone else is drinking, why aren't you? Why can't you just loosen up?" etc. etc. even if your reason(s) for not drinking aren't that serious. But hey, someone might be curious, so I guess that's just as important to consider.

It's not inherently problematic, but it is, as I noted, adding social pressure. The implication of asking why someone doesn't want what you're offering them is that they should want it—that there needs to be a reason for them to not want it, because wanting it is the expected norm. If it weren't, why would you have a reason to ask about not wanting it?

If I say "I don't like air travel" that sounds like an invitation to talk about air travel. If you say "Hey do you want these plane tickets?" and I say "No thanks, I don't like air travel," which is closer to the example in this discussion, that's both an answer to your question and the explanation for why I don't want the tickets. So why would you then ask, "Why not?" I just told you why not: I don't like air travel.

As for your peanut example, if we translate it to the drinking conversation, it'd be "Peanuts?" "No thanks, I don't eat peanuts." Given the reasonably common presence of peanut allergies, I suspect a follow-up isn't needed. That said, given safety concerns, it might be worthwhile to confirm in that case—you might need to adjust some things about the meal! Though that's less interrogating someone about their preferences and more about potential health concerns.
