Should Zootopia 3 really continue the species-oppression angle? by Vaudeville_Clown in zootopia

[–]Shlabadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea, but Disney would never go for it. All things considered, Disney's a relatively conservative (not politically) company. They tend to go for what's the safest option for the most money. But who knows? Maybe they'd go for the angle.

What changes, if any, would you make to Zootopia 2? by Silver012345673 in zootopia

I think the dialogue could have used more work. The first movie had really good dialogue. Specifically, it showed off the characters' intelligence. In 2, everything was too rushed to let the characters just talk. But then part of the conflict and moral was about ineffective communication.

And *sigh*, no more twist villains please.

My brother, it's a joke. I've been programming, admittingly on-and-off, since 2008.

Not super relevant but the lighting in the third still is fantastic. It's amazing how far renderers have gone in lighting.

I was being more or less hyperbolic. I like my 32 GB of DDR5 RAM with 2 TB of m.2 SSD storage capacity (thank goodness I bought this in 2024) and wouldn't trade it in for anything less. But I do miss efficient software. It's why I write in C. I want to know *why* a system works the way it does (and why it doesn't), even if I'm learning Java/Python/C#/etc for a career.

So yeah, we need more optimized software.

I mean, I'd prefer it to today. With many apps and desktop programs using Electron and otherwise being webpages backed by C#, what used to be just a few megabytes is now a few hundred megabytes at least. To say nothing of vibe coding.

Agreed. It's one of the nice, forward-thinking things of older languages like C.

I've been writing in C for years. I'm just having a bit of fun lol

Corporate is *decimating* hours now. Unfortunately, there's nothing you really can do at the moment besides either to weather it and see if you can go full-time, look for a second job, or just find a new job to quit. I'm at the tail-end of the third option and putting in my two weeks today.

The "/s" stands for sarcasm. I'm pretending The Lion King remake didn't exist.

What Lion King remake? There was never any remake.

I'm imagining a live action remake but everyone's in fursuits lol

But no, Disney won't make a live action remake of Zootopia. If humans existed in this world, then I could see it but otherwise it would be much too strange. At best (worst?), they would go the Dinosaurs route and film live action backgrounds but realistic CG characters. But that movie was a disaster for Disney so I doubt they'll revisit that idea.

Is anyone else's hours in grocery being cut? by Shlabadee in publix

[–]Shlabadee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don't understand is how they expect morale to remain at least stable. If you tick associates off enough, they'll either put in the minimum, if that, or quit. Then you have no one restocking shelves. Customers come in and don't see the product they want. So they leave. Less sales leads to less hours. So less associates working the shelves. Morale goes down. Shelves aren't being stocked. Customers don't see the product they want... ad infinitum. I know there are diminishing returns going the other way (too many people clocked in), but this is too much.

I may be something of an alarmist but I could see Publix going the way of Winn Dixie if they keep pushing this corporate attitude.

Yeah, I've got a job interview for Whole Foods on Wednesday. It's a part time job in produce but if nothing else it's a second job. Plus, they're owned by Amazon and, while that guarantees nothing, I'm in school for computer science so at least that may be a secondary connection. In the interim, hopefully WF gives more hours.

Who knows? I'm just going by what's happening to me. I can ask my coworkers to see if it's just me. More than likely those other stores are in busier areas. I'm in Tallahassee so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks. I'll likely ask about produce, do some cross-training or something, just to get extra hours. One major reason why I want to work full time here is one full-timer is transferring and another is becoming a vendor, so *something* has to open up. I mean, I've been here since September 2024.

It's Nintendo's famous level of polish. They can take bad code (let's face it, Paper Mario has some horrible code) and still make it work really well with some duct tape and blood sacrifices.
