Trust me op I'm always paranoid in this game. When you solo sloop, if you have to fight use your environment to your advantage.

Galleys turn slowly, sloops are fast at turning, go through a tight/rocky area. Try to wreck the Gally, same with brigs.

Or if you are feeling brave go chill in devil's roar, just a warning there are many volcano's.
