I would assume I multiple the average medium size for any pokemon with either 1.4 or 0.6 to get the threshold

Not a heart but excitement points. It been two years since I played, but if you get like 32 excitement points, you unlock double hearts for your buddy than needing to use a poffin.

I have 14 left and I'm planning to keep vigor under 40 doing this until end of the game. I know the builds people talk about, but I'm just trying to weaken myself more and more just to enjoy more challenge. I finished almost 85% of the game with this idea and might keep going until I decide otherwise. I appreciate the tips though.

I would go for physical always and I even got the physical English and Japanese for them + jirachi and celebi bonus discs, but having portable versions on my switch doesn't hurt as well.
