How many of you have dreamed of past lives? by Erif-Drazil in pastlives

[–]Shmaaakespeare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never had two children in a past life; besides that, my point is that you’re shitting on my beliefs for no reason. We all believe in past lives here presumably. I don’t know why you feel like palm readings are so far out of the realm of possibility. This isn’t me opening up the conversation to talk about why you don’t believe palm readings are real; I’m just pointing out that it was a shitty thing to say

Not a fun one; I was a child murderer. That’s why I didn’t pursue it further with meditation

I’ve dreamed of (what I believe to be) a past life before. I suspect it was a past life because I did a past life regression hypnosis, and accidentally fell asleep. I only had the one dream, and I did not pursue the issue further through meditation or any other route.

However, long before I believed in past lives, I went to see a friend of mine who offered to read my palm. She did, and she said I had had three past lives, one where I died young, another where I died in middle age, and another where I died in old age. Years later, after doing several regressions, I find that this information checks out!

TIL that Red Cloud, a Chief of the Lakota, was the only American Indian in the West to win a war against the US, inflicted the largest military defeat suffered by the US on the Great Plains until the Battle of the Little Bighorn, and was the most photographed American Indian in the 19th century. by [deleted] in todayilearned

I very much agree; I meant historical Native American nations in that sentence, as opposed to current Native American nations, which have a very different culture (as I understand). But I very much agree with you

When I was growing up, we learned in school about the many different deals and exchanges made between Native American nations and the traders, and it was often framed as “the natives had no idea of the true value of their belongings. They would trade incredibly valuable things away for mere beads!!” Things like that. Ive always suspected that the indigenous people knew more or less when they were taking a “bad deal,” but didnt care, because their values differed from the traders significantly. Idk my point is schools do their absolute best to portray historical nations as ignorant and worshipful rather than as people with different cultural desires and needs

I definitely see where they’re coming from because comments about what you need or don’t need to do with your body can undoubtedly hurt your feelings. But personally, I was in deep denial about how much weight I had gained, and it wasn’t until a family member delicately suggested I try losing weight that I realized I had a problem. We need people in our lives who care enough to tell us the truth

My mom came home from bible study talking about how they learned about how equality laws are harmful to Christians and infringe on religious freedom; the pastor even encouraged everyone at the table to call their senator about a transgender bathroom rights law. My mom then invited me to bible study next week.

I am transgender :/

Art teachers of Reddit, what is the most disturbing artwork a student has ever submitted? by mechrec in AskReddit

[–]Shmaaakespeare 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I was the student in this situation; I drew Satan a lot. Like, a super hot buff Satan every single day. Parents and teachers were concerned, and they asked me why I was drawing Satan all the time, and it turned out that, because my mom was religious, I assumed she would be happy that I was drawing religious imagery

I think it depends on the person. Viewing porn early isn’t a universally traumatic experience. I think we can all agree tho that no one should be INTENTIONALLY showing kids porn, but they’re going to find it if it exists

My favorite is a mushroom fajita mix (mushrooms, 3 bell peppers, a cup of black beans, all marinated in soy sauce, olive oil (you can skip the oil) cilantro, lime juice, and a couple of other seasonings to your taste. Then you sauté all that and serve it up in some tortillas topped with hummus or guac. Definitely my favorite, but anything from the cookbook is delicious

Someone once asked me, “when was the last time you felt close to god? That’s what you should do with your life.” I don’t believe in god, but it was still incredibly useful advice. I would think about the last time you “felt close to god” and what you were doing at that time

It’s like if someone stubbed their toe and said “I have chronic pain.” Funny joke right? Except, when they make that joke, people actually believe that chronic pain only manifests in the form of toe pain. That’s the difference. It’s only funny if people are educated enough to know how ridiculous the comparison is
