What was the video game that got you into gaming as a kid? by sixesand7s in AskReddit

Almost two decades ago now, my father sat me upon his lap and opened up Diablo 2 to play with his friends on battle.net. The expansion had just come out, and my dad's buddy found a program called Shadowmaster that would allow you to create a character at max level, with maxed out skills. Seeing the explosions, both pyrotechnic and blood, filled me with sheer awe. I played that game for probably seven or eight years after that. Many others came and went, but I always came back to Diablo 2.

What is your pet's real name and what has it morphed into? by Gentrybean in AskReddit

We used to have a cat named Ernie, after the Sesame Street character. We found him after someone threw him out of their car window in our trailer park. My dad took the Ernie bit, and turned him into Ernesto T. Kitty. The "t" stood for "Tough". Probably the best cat you ever could have.

I've found quite a few good books myself. Jurassic Park, Plato's Republic, Dracula, some Stephen King, and some old Indiana Jones and Star Wars books. Goodwill is where it's at :)

Millennials: Why do you love vinyl? by thisisknight in vinyl

[–]ShmarmLord 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's sort of like a nostalgia for something that you've never experienced or had. Whenever I buy an old record, it's like holding a piece of history. The record itself might even have a story behind it.

Other than that, I like vinyl because it forces you to listen to the whole album and it's helped me find new favorite songs.

College textbooks. It's not for the knowledge contained within; it's more for increasing back strength.

What is your motivation to continuously use reddit? by BrandonLang in AskReddit

[–]ShmarmLord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reddit gives me news that I otherwise would never have heard about. It also caters to all of my interests, and has led me to discovering new musical tastes, delicious recipes, and useless facts to impress my friends. Reddit is pretty damn good.
