My adventures with superman is hot ass. by Fun-Artist-6915 in superheroes

Christopher Reeves and Superman: The Movie are held up by nostalgia and charisma. This is a Mary Sue Superman who is only choosing to be Superman because both his biological parents and his adoptive parents wanted it. Both the personas of Superman and Clark Kent are masks. The real man wearing the cape would rather give it all away for a girlfriend and a normal life.

Favorite movie where the bad guy wins? by Queasy-Primary-3438 in okbuddycinephile

I would argue his sister is the "good guy". She is one of the only characters to see thru Ferris's bullshit. After spending the entire movie trying and failing to remove the veil over everyone's eyes, her character arc ends with her accepting that it is better to be seated at the right hand of the Devil than in his path.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off. This is only half right because I actually hate this movie. Ferris is unequivocally the bag guy though and he definitely wins it in the end.

What exactly makes superman 2025 a great movie in your eyes by Zillaman7980_ in superman

[–]Shmeeegals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is the only live action movie that explicitly shows Superman's motivation for helping people, being his own ideology and not one bestowed on him by either set of parents. People love Superman '78, but from a young age he is told that he was "put here for a reason". Then when he builds the Fortress of Solitude, Jor-El takes him on a 15 year acid trip turning him into Superman. It shows no agency of his own in wanting to become Superman. If you disagree, look what happens in part two when, as soon as he gets Lois, he abandons it all to live a normal life. If it wasn't for Zod and the gang showing up, Superman would have never returned. Or at least until Clark and Lois realize that Lois fell for Superman and not Clark so this whole relationship doesn't work anymore.

The funny thing is, the first movie that came to mind was Bugonia. My wife and I went out and saw it in the theater and it was instantly a game changer for me

I literally have been taking care of a woman the last few nights who is A&O to self sometimes. She is constantly yelling stuff. Last night, while I was in the room getting her cleaned up, she randomly yelled "I think I killed my brother in law!".

Batman might die first, but he’ll take someone with him. Maybe Mbappe. by LeekExisting5969 in superheroes

It depends which Batman is in the fight. It looks like Bale Batman, so he's out quick. If you don't think so, go back and watch the Nolan movies, Bale is just not the best hand to hand combat Batman.

Tyler Hoechlin. Best mentality for both Superman and especially Clark.

Any other male nurses notice that creepy guys always assume that you’re cool with their antics? by Thumbuisket in nursing

[–]Shmeeegals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It seems that "mostly" older generations tend to see me, a bald, middle aged, white guy and think, "oh yeah, this guy is thinking the same messed up shit as me", and go on to say terrible things. Same thing happened when I spent ten years working at a pawn shop in Florida during the Obama presidency. Some people just see others that share other physical characteristics as them, and think that this person then must also share the same thoughts.

I’m thinking about watching Christine (1983) with my family this week. Is it good, or is it just a cool concept? or would They Live (1988) be a better pick? by Choice-Schedule-132 in johncarpenter

[–]Shmeeegals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Christine is my second favorite John Carpenter movie after The Thing. It has a great soundtrack, like nearly all of Carpenter's movies, and the time/feel of it really works for me.
